Yes the EVO is a knock off of the Iwata and the one I had sprayed very well.
The Iwata has a much larger fan and seems to atomize the paint better.
To me the difference in the guns is definitely noticeable. Let me put it this way, if you owned a Ford Pinto and a Shelby Mustang both cars would get you from point A to B but one would make the trip much more enjoyable and get you to where you want to be faster.
BUDGET CLEAR GUN - ASTRO (not EVO)

I know this post is kinda old but I didn't want to start a new since this was on the topic. If a guy wants to sell me a Iwata LPH-400 for 275-300 NEW, is this a good deal? thanks Chad
P.S. Doesn't look like it comes with a cup. Or I could get a SATA Jet 100 BF brand new with cup and a 1.4 for 300? |
Pass on the sata. That model is more for priming. Coronet can shed light on the right iwata. Maybe he will chime in.

Yes the LPH-400 would be a good buy since it is new. I use the Silver Cap (1.4) for epoxy, base and clear. Never really had any problems with metallics like some claim to have but I usually have the pressure set about 22 psi for base which is higher than the manual suggests. Can't comment on the other tips sets since I never bought them. I agree with Timbo that the SATA would be a good for a primer gun. 1968 Coronet R/T

Coronet which clear(s) are you mainly spraying? Just Curious!
|
If you mean ********** clears: a few gallons each of the MS clear and Production Clear, one gallon of the Euro 5000 that I used on the 2007 F750 in the projects section plus I have a gallon of Universal clear in the cabinet ready for my next project.
