Hope you're a whole lot better Dennis.

Good luck with the insurance company Doug, they're a bunch of weasels that cherfully take your money and then find some fine print that says you're not covered when you need it. :realmad:

Speaking of crazy weather, the early Dec snow just finally melted and we just got another dump of snow, about a foot of it. :knockout: :knockout:

Hey Doug
Ya long commute LAX right at 4 hr's door to door.
They Tell me I can work 4 10s and then make deals to work it all in three days have 4 off. If I can do that once or twice a month it wont be to bad. They hired locally off the street out here twice this past year I just wasn't lucky enough to get an interview so I am hoping I can get Transfer out here in a Year or two maybe till then I can commute.
Looking for a room mate or affordable efficiency now cant believe the prices they want for a one bedroom??? I used to rent a whole two bed room house in Long beach for $600 a month in the late 90s

That commute will certainly make for a long day, sure hope you can get a transfer soon Dennis. Hopefully it's a really good job so it makes it worthwhile.

The shop is certainly coming along, still have a ton of work to do on the outside before I can get to work on the paint booth bay, Currently that pay has a mile of siding and half a mile of pine for the soffits :knockout:

The snow is almost all gone and I sure hope that's the end of it this year, it's been a total pain :splat:

Can't wait to see some more pics Doug

progress is slow still sanding and polishing will update hopefully very soon :splat: :splat:

Hope the rains hold off for the wedding Doug. For my son and family as well, they just got there a few hours ago to go to Disney for a few days. We get to look after the farm again, I don't mind the poultry end but the horses are a pain in the butt

The shop is very slowly coming together

Hey Guy's
Well My old VW TDI diesel Jetta is getting old with 276k miles so I have been looking at used cars for this weekly commute I soon have to start doing and I found a few I really like and want of course I am looking for a car I can enjoy this time I want something fun and at least 20-27 mpg so I am leaning towards a newer used Vett 2012-15 late model vetts get good mpg or a used BMW M6 2008-2012 low millage of course and who cares about the mpg! its a 500 hp V10! I keep finding ones I like at prices I can afford even and my credit will pull it off its just I am not yet working with new employer yet I go for finger printing tomorrow and will get a start date soon after that they say.

So any way I am holding off till I get at least 6 months on the job any person with a sane mind and good credit would Right ? well meanwhile My car is going down hill fast It needs a Hi pressure fuel pump and they are very expensive.
So I am again cruising the Craigslist adds and what do I spy? a 98 Vette needs engine work $4000.00 hmmmm call the guy he says he just bought it and engine is making ticking/knocking noise after he got it home hmmmmm something fishy! but this is a really clean car nice paint super nice interior and its a 6 speed hmmmm fishy fishy something smells.....

But I need a car thats good on gas and not junk and this car is nice and with just 107k on the clock how bad could it be? so I get their and look it over This is a nice well taken care of car with recipts for previous work done to it such as new Harmonic balancer oil pan seal water pump new Rack and pinion Brand new tires bla bla bla

Hmmm fire it up first crank fires right up but has a Rod Hammering the Crank load as heck shut it off Yup it needs a crank!
I had already called Orileys thinking worst case scenario it would need a crank shaft and I can get a crank with new bearings for $350 and full gasket kit for $300 surely I can beat that one I would think.... so I laid down my The last of my Rat hole cash and load the beast up and get it home, pulled the oil filter wouldn't you know it its got a brand new filter and oil in it! So I pull the filter and cut it open and roll the pleats out sure enough loaded with metal so I got the Hood off and the intake off and It sure would be nice if I could get it on my lift but the Chevelle is still on it waiting for another lower control arm (don;t ask) and Hes getting a C clip eliminator kit installed on the axles so I am still waiting on parts and the car sits on my lift.

So I start cruising Youtube on How to pull this engine HA! Im screwed! the easy way is to pull the Engine Transmission and rear end all together as one unit out the bottom through the Top is not recognized as a Possibility! and You need a Two post lift to do it! Why oh why didn't I keep my Two post lift????? oh the fun doesn't end there either!
I found a web sight forum and a bunch of the guys their have pulled them out the top its just not easy as going out the bottom they say Phew! dodged that bullet!

So for **** and giggles I start looking for a Used engine OMG! every one wants $1500-$3500 for one of these engines most with around 90-100k mi already &*%#$#$^ So I call my friend Howard who owns Las Vegas Machine aka Las Vegas Crankshaft and I can stay away from cheap Chinese parts and still get it over hauled complete with all new pistons bearings stretch bolts and the heads freshened up for $1900 hmmmmm

So I guess I am gonna have 6 grand cash or there about into a 8K car with 107k on the clock not including my labor when I include that the car wasn't worth fixing....

The car is clean enough though after I get it running properly I dont think I would have much problem selling it if I want too I should have tried to get it for 3000- 3500 would have been better deal now looking at it. oh well such as life I thought it smelled fishy!
