Crows Feet

What do "crows feet" in the paint look like? I think I might have some in my OEM paint. They look like small tiny lines protruding from a central point. Like a sunburst pattern (sorry pics didn't come out). What causes this?

The description you give sounds like a classic example.

Yeah, chicken feet, spider cracks, i have heard a few terms used for what you describe. It pretty common on old laquer paint jobs. You should have seen the hood only old 84 monte carlo, the paint was cracking all the way to the metal. The only recomendation that i have seen was to strip to the bare panel.

My car is only 2 years old! Only place is on the hood though. I first thought they may have been caused by small rocks or gravel, but there are no chips or dents just tiny lines in circular formation.

could be damage from acid rain or bird droppings
