If the runs are as heavy as you say, then your probably gonna block 'em down. Your probably gonna burn through doing this, constituting a repaint. I'd start with 1000 wet, see if it's gonna come out for you, if not go to 400 wet and level everything and do it again.
Sometimes it's faster to bite the bullet rather than try to sand them all out and buff.

When I get a run, I tend to use a razor blade to scrape the majority of it off. Then you can sand the area down to bring it perfectly level with the surrounding.

If you have put on a good coverage of clear, you may get away with this and buff it out rather than going through the process of reapplying the clear.

Do a search for "Runs in Clear" and you should come up with a ton of information. I posted pictures a while back of some major runs and then the finished product.

That method only works for clear that dries very hard. I have never used a clear that dries that hard. I have used Dupont, Nason, Omni, Sherwin Williams, transtar and none of them dry hard enough to do a run with a razor blade like that. Maybe if I went back to the run a month or two later but I tried waiting a week once and the clear didnt scrape off ( it more of breaks off exposing the base coat.. I have found on these softer clears if you take some dry 220 and level the run or sag. Then gently work back up to 2000 it comes out 98%

Coronet:::

What did your panel look like after color sanding?

Where you able to save it?

No experience with them but you could try a nib file - they are for removing nibs and runs from clear coat. They make a coarse file for softer paints and a fine file for harder paints.

Maybe others here could comment on how effective they are.
