First time painting with BC/CC and only the second car I have ever painted so its not perfect but I am pleased. Still needs to be color sanded and buffed.
Have a few runs in the clear mainly on one side of the car but I believe that was due to the poor lighting in the booth. I had to paint from my knees to be able to see anything on that side.
Thanks for your help in getting me to this point.

Lookin' good. Have you done much cut and buff work before? These cars with the big swoopy lines and fine creases here and there can be tricky. I'd be taping some of those edges and just remember "If it's an area you think you'll have trouble buffing don't sand it in the first place, just blend into it." _________________ Metal, wood, fiberglass, we work it all... www.furniturephysicians.com We can restore the irreplaceable! |

No, this will be my first time color sanding and buffing. I plan to let the car sit for a couple of days while I get the things I need together and do some intensive reading on the subject.
I have a variable speed buffer but will need to get the proper pads and products before starting. _________________ 1968 Coronet R/T - a work in progress.

That looks good. Did you have the car at that height when you sprayed it?I bet leaning over that one to get to the center was fun? |

Yes, but I used a step stool. The difficult part was keeping my belly sucked in while still trying to breathe. _________________ 1968 Coronet R/T - a work in progress.

Han,
There are 3 coats of clear on there. I wanted to go 4 but my time in the booth was already up. Here is a picture of my worst spot as far as runs go:
JC,
It just had to be the lighting - honest. _________________ 1968 Coronet R/T - a work in progress.

The river runs wild!
I'd knock down those runs with 1000 grit over a piece of wood.
You can use a coarser grit but for starters, 1000 is safe. It will
take some time (what doesn't?) but better to be safe than burn
through and refinish both quarters and the roof!
The "tear drops" can be sliced off with a razor blade then finish
up with sand paper.

I dont know if I should say this,,,,,but It will take him two or three days to sand all of that out with 1000 grit. Im not making fun of you in no way!
Thats not funny!
If i were you I would let it dry for about three days in the sun, sand it flat with 320 on a block dry to see where I was cutting and use the air hose to clean the paper on the block out. (Then 600 wet)
When you think you have it flat wet it and see from the reflection in the water. Your gonna have to re-spray that fender.
I hate to say this, but Ill bet you a million dollars you sand through the clear if you try to save it.
There is no way a new guy can save that. I dont think I could save that one. Go ahead and re-spray it.
Please dont take that the wrong way, I wish I could be there to help you with it. _________________ www.reelfishhead.com 843-412-6776

A million dollars? Wow, that fishing job must really pay off.
I will give it my best attempt at saving it but I have plenty of clear in reserve if needed.
Don't worry about offending me ODG I know you are all about helping people like me. _________________ 1968 Coronet R/T - a work in progress.

If you are gonna try and save that, sand it dry first with 600 on a block so you can see where you are cutting,,,dont use water to start with, If you use water you cant see where your paper is cutting.
Clean your paper with your air blower as you go, and like Han said,,,take your time.
I wish you luck. _________________ www.reelfishhead.com 843-412-6776

Nice job, looks great.
My booth isn't the best either and sometimes I can't even see what I'm shooting because it's too big for the space..... and yea I've had a few of those waterfalls. I tried to save them and so far I'm 0 for 2. lol
Wishing you luck and it's good experience trying, so go slow like Han said. But like ODG said you're probably going to have to reshoot it. _________________ Mike
