How to post a topic to a Forum

Maybe you have a question. Maybe you have an answer. Maybe you have some useful information to share with the community here. Either way, we'd like to encourage you to participate. It's fun, easy -- and you may just end up helping someone (or getting the help you need!).

First, if you have not done so already you need to register for the forums (which is also quick and easy).

Once you are registered, visit the main board index and find the forum that matches your topic the closest.

Now is a good time to use the search tool to see if your desired topic has already been discussed. While it's not a crime to talk about something again, you may find valuable information by searching, first.

If you are ready to post a new topic, look for the "new topic" button at the top of each page (if you are logged in!):

Once you click on that New Topic button, you'll be inside the post editor. This is very straightforward; make sure you use a descriptive title for your topic, and keep your post short and to the point. Here's what the editor screen looks like:

You'll notice that at the top of the editor there are BBC (bulletin board code) items that you can use. You can make some of your text bold, you can include HTTP links, and you can even embed YouTube videos. At the bottom of the editor screen there is a very important tool, which can be used to add photos to your post. To see detailed instructions about adding photos to your posts, please click here.

Have fun! And, don't forget to keep us updated on the progress of your project, or the results of the advice you got here. Once you post something to a forum it's always nice to come back later and "close the loop" on the discussion. Thanks!
