At this point I have the 1/4 panels blocked and in pretty good shape. Next up is the doors. The doors on this car are original paint and have never had any work on them. However they did have several minor dents.
So I spent a few hours working the metal to get the dents out of the doors the best I can before I start body work on them.
'95 Civic EX 2Dr - rust repair repaint project
Used long block 180 grit to lightly block doors. Identified low spots, roughed up with 80 grit, skimmed filler in low spots, then blocked doors long block 80 grit followed by 180 grit blocking with long block cross pattern. Will apply some epoxy primer after I clean garage up,

Epoxy primed, sprayed several coats of surfacer on doors, block 180 and it required a lot of blocking to get rid of low spots. But I didn't burn through to metal and was slow patient not to put much pressure on block to insure doors leveled out. Then sprayed surfacer over doors again with several extra coats over the problem areas. Next round of blocking should smooth down level without issue and without much effort.

Thanks. When I did my daughters civic I pressed too hard blocking the doors and had faint ripples where the crash beam is inside the doors. I had to fix those ripples before the paint shop would accept the car because it was a black car. |
|
Got the doors smoothed down with 320 grit and no more waves ripples they are nice and straight now.

Removed all masking/taping from car because it was all dirty and full of dust. Work area is a mess and needs a good cleaning. Opened garage door to look over doors and 1/4 panels with the help of natural light. They are blocked to 320 at this point. 1/4s may have 220 scratches in them here and there and lower doors might need more sanding ect ect, Decided to move to other panels and get rest of car rough prepped and then do any additional smoothing fix scratches ect final prep later.

Sanded down and prepped the trunk lid. Three coats epoxy primer on top and two on the underside. Had to paint the underside because there was surface rust on lower lip in one area.

Some scrapes on bumper repaired and a lot of chips sanded flat feathered out.

Are we having fun yet?
