Hi Chriss
I didn't take any pics of it when it happened wish I had would have been good for the insurance money.
At this point it just looks like a two wheel Tow Dolley with a missing fender on the left side not much to see.

I am having to listen to my Father in law about how dangerous those two wheel Dolly's are and how he would never use one or own one bla bla bla (And it doesn't stop!)
OH well try to help some one it was a 32 hr round trip drive the ungrateful $!*

I am thinking maybe the strap some how slipped and came loose but its pretty much impossible for that to happen? I had those things strapped down tight tight!
I have never had a problem towing anything with this thing.
I am also thinking maybe the portion that pivots on the trailer may need greasing? although I greased it the last time I used it but I swear while pulling it feels like the Van itself was pushing the rear end of the Truck in turns it never felt like this before, I have never had problems with it before, never! I have had it for years since new.

Was more interested in the concept of the dolly than the damage. Sympathetic on the damage too.

From what I think I understand it attaches to the towbar on the car and then takes the weight of the trailer drawbar, effectively turning it into a dog trailer. Commonly seen with tippers and road trains but, in my whole life, I've only ever seen one on a smaller scale that would go behind a car, ute or even a 4WD.

Just not used here although technically perfectly legal. But there has been some discussion on my car forum about the concept and the ability to reduce towbar download, effectively reducing load on the rear axle while increasing that on the front - making a more balanced rig and allowing the ability to carry the wife AND kids rather than one or the other.

And yeah, I know, completely off topic, but I am interested in real world experience with these.

That's a pain on top of a long trip and probably hot as all get out. I've heard they're prone to issues but I'm not sure why. Quite a few motorhomes use them for the toad.

I think I have all the brake leaks dealt with, one of the stainless lines I bought for the rear had a crack in the flare. Tried to fire up the car and the brand new starter is pooched

Thanks.

Just shows how important pictures are when we're relying on written descriptions.

This, on a smaller scale, is what I thought you were talking about:

They have the small dual axle ones like mine I just bought the cheaper single axle one as I never really planned on towing anything really heavy with it as I have a full size car tailor with dual axles. Be live me when I say It will be a cold day in Heck before I tow anything that heavy again on that small trailer.

Well been playing with my Ford after I fixed the Father in laws Van.
I replaced the AC Condenser, Pump, receiver drier, both hose assembly's, expansion valve orifice thingy & the low pressure switch After a bit of playing with the electrical part of of things (fuses) (dirty connections) I got the AC going got it down to 50 degrees out the vents in the shop! Brrrrr! Nicy! nice!
I Also figured out the Fuel tank transfer valve issue got that working finally! and I replaced the Master cyl. for the Brakes it was getting a little spongy. I also ordered a new set of headlights for it should be here today or tomorrow. (Nice to be able to see the road)
Now I have to start on the broken down seat and recover the head liner then paint the ugly old thing. I dont think I will be getting around to the paint for a long time though to many other projects waiting on me.

What the heck is going on down there, I see news clips of Vegas flooding.

Been having lots of greif with the Stang but I think I've got most of the issues under control. I'll know soon, need to bleed the brakes for the umpteenth time. Stainless line I bought had a crack in the flare, made a new one and then had a leaky brake hose, just got a new one so hopefully that will do it. Had problems with the new starter but that's good now. Still need to put in windshield and then it's ready for the new top.

The weather here is normal for this time of year, Its Monsoon season Blows up from Mexico across Arizona every year some years worse than others to be honest this is just a normal year not bad at all but a little wetter than past 6 years or so The news agencies are just reporting it more for their Political agenda of Global warming BS.

2002-2003 was way worse my whole lot was under about 6 inches of water that one year. I brought in about 60-70 semi trucks with 40 foot belly dump trailers to raise my property before I built my house because of that one storm.
The State was building a new road digging out old dirt to lay in Gravel and hauling the old dirt off 50 miles away, I volunteered my property as a dump for old dirt they were removing major win for me didn't cost me a dime to raise the property.

Sorry to here problems with Brakes but sounds like you got it going your way.
Are you going to do the Windshield your self or are you going to farm it out?
Cant wait to see it with the Roof on it! I am excited to see the car done!

I have to bleed the Brakes yet on the truck after installing the Master cyl but waiting till I play with the right front hub, wheel has some funny side to side movement when I push on bottom of wheel in and out like a ball joint But they are all new?
Gotta figure that one out!

I finally got new Cylinder stud kit from ARP for the Wifes Hemi for the Jeep Commander been waiting since beginning of Covid for new Bolts which are still not available! but they did finely released a few stud kits finally! I will begin building that monster next week or so gonna be fun! cant wait to get that out of the shop and out of my way maybe i will be able to get back to the Fire bird?
