Finished the hood.. Not bad for doing it in my basement with a 40 dollar gun

Hood had some hammer marks in it along with other pinholed high spots. Was able to shrink the metal and get them out..
2k omni high build primer

Take it outside (in the sun) and wash it down and/or wipe it down with
a 50/50 mixture of water and alcohol. You may see more scratches
and swirls. Hard to tell with indoor lighting.

I'll take some nice pics today or tommorow.. I have to straighten the radiator support to get everything to line up, will involve a little more work this weekend but should be all set...

The paints don't match, in the sun its not too bad but if your looking at any of the panels side by side, you can tell.. Original red used was PPG r81-4 and I goofed and bought some omni r81-4.. Last time I use cheap paint..

You can definitely tell the omni has no where near as much color(pigment) as the PPG.. Good enough for state inspection anyway..

Cear coat was Transtar 2.1 Euro classic 7214

yea its a solid red from honda, no metallic..

Didn't finish with presta ultra but I started with it after wetsanding, after that I used a mcguires medium cutter, then used some mcguires swirl free polisher. Pads I used were also mcguires and 3m cutting and polishing pads. The maroon(mcguires foam), grey(3m foam) and yellow(mcguire foam) pads

I haven't ran into any problems with using different pads with different compounds(yet, anyway) but the system seems to work pretty good for me.. On some clears though I know I've needed a lighter cutter to get some minor scratch's and swirls out..

Any recomendations Shine? Love that truck btw

If what your using works then stick with it. When I saw the pic of the Ultra Cutting Creme and what appeared to be solid red I thought ..........

In the sun that would look .......(how do you say it politly) interesting...LOL

Im glad you stepped it down to remove any of the remaining marks that the cutting creme would have left.

I personally like the Lake Country pads (there 7.5" variable contact pads)

And am a sucker for Menzerna compounds, The newer 3M stuff is also getting very good. But as long as what your using is working for you stay with it.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck and good work on the solid red.
