i decided to take on my biggest challenge yet, the rust on my moms explorer
it didnt look to bad with the door closed
when you open the door it looks alot worse (its still nothing compared to whats behind the silver plastic trim
and behind the plastic was THIS
after some cutting
after welding and rust protecting
stuff that just fell off the truck
its a start, and remember my friend and i have no auto body education we just did it from what we saw on the internet
more pics soon

nice start...
I would try and use flap wheels (on a grinder) to try and level off the welds. Then filler/sand/icing/primer What are you using for cutting the sheet metal? Maybe try and use some tape to cut as straight as possible. It makes it way more easier when reparing panels with sheet metal when everything is square. |

im using a grinder to cut and i did use tape, but because i had to hammer the metal into shape it looks wavy
i still have to level off the welds and noob question... what is icing? |

Icing is a light filler. I just noticed that you have trims over the area, so maybe you don't need to go overboard with the finished look.
Have you treated the "inside" of the sheet metal you are working with? |

i will use rubberized undercoating
