I've been using this forum for alittle over a year now and never bothered to post anything. The information posted here is great. I'm truly impressed. It took me years to get how to buff a car to prefection without the worry of swirls the next time they wash it. Its a 99 chevy silverado dark blue and its a wonder, after about 8 hours of work of course. I do wish i would have taken pictures of the before but didn't think of it.
The first step I washed the truck with the pressure washer and degreased the tires, fender wells, the front Grille area and the rear bumper.
The second step I sprayed 3M Undercoating on the fender wells and some of the suspension parts to give that real dark look.
The Third Step I clayed the entire truck to take off all the undercoating overspray, industrial fallout and roadgrime pitted on the paint. Being a work truck just imagine how long that took.
The Fourth step I washed the truck again really well and dried it.
The Fith step was with the Dewalt DW849 w/8 inch Heavy Cut Black Automagic Pad using Heavy cut compound from the local detail supply store I buffed to get rid of all those spider marks and deep scratches. I Frequently sprayed water on the pad because it would get hot too quickly,
The Sixth step was with the Dewalt DW849 w/ 8 inch Heavy Polishing Green Automagic Pad using 3m Perfect It 3000 Rubbing Compound to remove the deep swirls left behind by the previous compound.
The Seventh step I used the Flex L3403VRG w/ 5.5 inch Medium Polishing White CCS Lake and Country pad using 3m Perfect It 3000 Swirl Remover to leave a glossy glasslike look. There was very slight marring.
The Eighth Step I washed the Truck with the pressure washer to Remove all the gunk and stuff stuck Between the Doors,Cowl and windshield from previous buffer work.
The Ninth Step I used the Flex L3403VRG w/ 5.5 Finessing Blue CCS Lake and Country pad using 3m Perfect It Ultrafina SE to give that deep luster and swirl free finish.
The tenth Step I used microfiber towels and cleaned up the Ultrafina SE left behind to apply by palms and finger tips, two layers of Victoria Concours Wax.
The Eleventh and final step I used microfiber towels to clean up the final layer of Victoria wax and took some pictures.
