Reminds me of a sidewall of the Grand Canyon!
Maybe they couldn't find a replacement 1/4 panel at the time....didn't have the internet back then.
And the owner couldn't afford the labor costs to reshape the existing.....just a guess.
That is some thick mud....I like how they ran out, and it became two-toned :goodjob:
Must have mixed that quantity with a drill and paddle...LOL.
Don't sweat it, Life's too short!

Well it looks like this car is finally going home.
Started out as a "freshen up" with an understanding that it would be just a driver.
The dull spots in the left center of pictures are actually from a smudge on my camera lens that I didn't notice until now.

Nice job, how did the second round with the chrome plater turn out? Problems like that and the grinding marks and waves some platers put in, is why I decided to prepare my own chrome cores. I know some platers do excellent work, but they charge excellent fees for doing that.

Plating took 3 months the first time, 3 months the second time and looked no better. The third time out was another 6 weeks but the guy quoted them way too high.
I ended up "dressing" the chrome up as much as I could and installing it anyway.

Wow! That came out great Jim. I bet the owner is thrilled with the results. I looked back at page one of this thread, the original pictures, and the transformation is incredible.

Really nice job, congratulations!

Thanks Chris. His first comment to me when he saw the car sitting in the driveway was, "hey, that's not the car I brought here!"
He already mentioned doing another car only this one will be a show car project.

Thanks. I appreciate all the kind words. The car was a real "project" for sure.
I plan to work on the R/T for a while now and will post some pictures as I go. It is well past the paint and body stage but often the detail work on older restorations is the most difficult part.
