I had a couple Mopars do that to me back in the day never seen a Ford do it though.

My Mopars sounded like a Rod Knock or spun Main bearing.
Always very happy too find a Broken flex plate!!!!

Well my plan to get the flywheel installed last night fell through. It bolted to the crank but the holes were off for the torque converter. I was very unhappy to find this out with the transmission up in the air trying to get it to line up. I wasn’t prepared to have to bring the transmission down again so I almost got hurt and fluid went everywhere. I chalked it up to God’s sovereignty, got cleaned up, relaxed and then went to bed. I returned the flywheel to Autozone this morning, got a used one from a local junkyard and I’m now back on the road with no rattle. :rockon:

I have been getting a lot of wrong parts lately from local shops myself very frustrating.

Glad you didn't get hurt, Got to have a good transmission jack for that job.
I had a good Transmission floor jack one at one time but it disappeared and the one I have for doing it on the lifts is a pos, I need to get a good one.
I just did my fourth Tranny rebuild myself!
I beginning to really enjoy it. I really wouldn't mind getting a Job working in a Transmission shop if I would get to build with another good builder only so much that the books show.
Although I have found a Good web forum for them and there is Utube.
So many fricken special tools for doing it

Yeah that’s why I’ve never rebuilt any. Too many tools as you say.

I’ve had a pretty productive couple of days. I installed some peep mirrors. I’ve read where most people say they’re for looks and pretty much useless. I found that to be the case with them installed high. Once I lowered them down they work fine for me. I still like the looks as well.
I wanted to do more with the running boards so I finally made a filler piece between the board and fender. Since the running boards are smooth I also made some trim pieces out of aluminum flat bar. I got finished just in time to go to a car cruise. I’ve had a lot of fun with this truck the last two weeks. 400 miles on it. I go back to work next week and crazy overtime is expected to soon follow so the truck probably won’t see many changes in the near future.

Truck looks great. My neighbor has Ford F-1. He is running a corvette IFS and IRS , with a 351 Cleveland and overdrive.

Once again really nice truck you have there

I like the way that tilt works better than the one I put on this '55 Chevy.
Had to install this bracing:

Then these adjustable hinges:

It utilizes the original hood latch system. So when closing it is lowered onto the rails/rollers and then pushed backwards and down to latch the hood.
Getting this thing adjusted and the hood aligned was a nightmare.
