Very hard to say without seeing the car in person. The fact that it has factory paint still in decent shape is a big plus.

From the research Ive done some cars were and some weren't. But I read is you just take a rag with Lacquer Thinner on it and if the paint comes up then its lacquer...Ill have to try that. Once I get it in the garage I will start taking mirrors and trim and such off. Then I will access how bad the body is and if It needs to go to bare metal or not.

Could be laquer or enamel without hardener.

I put some lacquer to it and it didnt affect it what so ever. Looks like Ill be sanding the whole body and just repairing the sections needed. I will block and fill where needed tho.

Just depends what you are looking for, IMO, you will get the nicest job if you take it down to the metal, but if it truly is just the factory paint and is NOT lacquer, you should get a nice job just sanding. If you do a test section with paint stripper and it crinkles...its lacquer, if it just gets gooey its probably acrylic enamel. I think Im right on that, maybe timbo can chime in.

Ill see when I get the car into the garage and start working on it. I put a rag with some lacquer thinner on it last night and it didnt bubble or start to crinkle. I was even rubbing it and it did nothing. It felt tacky afterwards.

I should have it in the garage this weekend or sometime next week. I have to put a turn signal switch in the Cutlass then I can swap the cars.....I only have a 2 car garage and room for 1 car in it......Poor cutlass hasn't slept outside in over 3 years.

Tacky ....if ya have paint on the rag you will best be stripping for peace of mind and longevity. Try feathering back a small repair area. You can see how many layers of paint and primer you have. Lets see a pic after you have feathered the area...

No updates as of yet. I am in the hoarding of parts stage. I got new floor pans, a good used passenger frame rail, and a new tail panel. Also been picking up misc. parts for the interior. But I have been picking away at it little by little. I will post more pics as I go along.

Sorry, But ive been long over due for an Update on this car. I have been SO busy the past couple years I havent been able to do anything. Well, the time has come to start some work. The frame rail is pretty crispy on the passenger side. The driver side is perfect. Well I bought a frame rail and I was wondering what my best way to replace it is? Should I just replace the whole thing floor section and rail? Or should I just patch in whats necessary. Either one to me looks like its not going to be easy.

I'm at the point, that I'm itching to dive in, but not 100% how I want to go about it.

Crazy how a project can be left alone for years just to be picked up and worked on where you left off. Im looking forward to seeing the end result. :goodjob:
