Thanks for the update. I was wondering about this project a while back but knew you had some issues with dogs and corvettes going on.

Ya Its going sloooooow I need to do another coat of primer now I was up to 400 grit and I can still see some courser grit scratch here and there. Still haven't decided on a color yet either and I need to get it off the spit and make it a roller again so I can get the front end back on it. I have all the parts to do it its just a matter of having some time to do it.

Your project is looking really good. Your giving me inspiration to find another car to do myself. What color was the car originally?

Well it was Green sorta when I got it and under that was Orange and under that it looked like originally it started life as a Copper Brown Buckskin type of thing.
I am not sure what color I am gonna paint it yet keep going back and forth on Red or Black then White and of course Blue.

Right now its on the Back burner till I make it a roller again so I can get the fenders on it.

I pretty much made up my mind to loose the original Pontiac 10 bolt Posi and go with a Custom built 12 bolt from Moser, and a custom built M22 Rock crusher from a Builder I met in Southern California and the 455 I already have with Edlebrock Ram air heads I already have and Long tube Stainless steel headers.
I also have decided to go with the Holley Dominator fuel injection system as well with the 4500 style Carb injector system should be a very potent very reliable combination.

M22 needs no introduction to those that know what they are BUT they are out of production at this point, if you don't know what it is keep dreaming about 6 speeds.
I don't think this is gonna be any sort of a Problem sourcing as I am in contact with a Builder who has stock If it was or turns into a Problem a Jerico 4 speed will easily take its place although it may cost me a few more Duckets.
In the end its not a race car build just a really cool Modified custom street Bruiser built to drive to any event dish it out and come home in one piece!

Its gonna add a Lot expense to my Bottom line but I am gambling some one is gonna want it built like that? I mean really what more could I do to it? How could I really make it better short of going with all new top of the line LS stuff from a top of the line wrecked LS car?

Duuuuuuude!

The whole deal sound sweet and it will be a beast.

My two cents.
Let Moser deliver the rear loaded with gears.
I know you are talking 12 bolt / I did a 9" for the AMC and had them assemble the center section >>>> was $100 more than if I bought the parts and did it myself.

The M22 or Jerico seems cool but would ui consider the new TKX600 from Tremec?

Ya the 6 speed is just too much$ I can get a M22 for $2000-$2500 and in my opinion a M22 or a Super T 10 is a Much better choice regardless what others tell you or what you read in a Magazine or the Internet The 4 sp is the stronger Tranny.

As far as the 12 Bolt yes I am gonna let them do it all so I can just bolt it in.
I am thinking 3:90 gears maybe 3:73

Dennis. Here is the TKX 600 5spd
This is the improved version of the TKO600 with improvements in the size and shift quality and is conservatively rated @ 600ft-lbs. capacity.
With a 3.73 I’d pick the .65 OD.
But the 1st gears are steep on these so I would go with a lower ratio to start.
I wish you were local to me and could go for a spin in my TA, you would be hooked.

Only $2700.

You are worth it!

Ya when a Tremec or a 6 speed can take real abuse like this I will look at them.

Yes a 5speed and a six can be built to do it But seriously if your gonna spend that kind of money your better off looking at a Jerico, Gforce ,Liberty, or another exotic race only transmission.

My Build is just a lot of power Minus a real Racing suspension. Engine will be almost the same as that video and just as Violent.
Pontiac 455 no joke when built right! All Torque! Listen to the Strait cut gears!
Hes Not nice to that Tranny! Bang! Bang! and every time Right into gear!

I had a built 74 455 Trans am years ago with a M22 NOTHING in this world is as exciting to drive Hard! Even my Chryslers and Vetts weren't as fun to drive hard as that Monster I regret selling that car to this day.

You also got to remember this car is for sale when completed I have no intention of keeping it beyond a final sale!
So I am try to appease both the new comer to the collector car hobby and the Purist. that's kinda hard to do with a Plain Jain. As Buyers any buyer looking for a car like this is not stupid they have done some research and have probably owned one if not multiple similar models!

The best thing this car has going for it it is a real 70 Fire bird and 70s are Rare in their own right albeit it is a 70 Esprit by the numbers BUT it aint gonna be an original plain Jain Esprit when I am done with it!
So in the end its Just an Esprit and no matter what I do to it It will always be Just an Esprit Fire bird NON MATCHING NUMBERS! which lowers its value.
It can have all the right stuff and it still wont bring the BIG money.
BUT it will sell to the right person that wants those options and a car built that way without the pedigree and it will still bring decent money if its done right.
Gotta be carefull of over doing things gotta leave some on the plate for the next guy to make it his own too.
It is a hard game to play and still make a few bucks.
If I over do it the price is to Hi for any potential buyer if I don't do enough I cant attract the right buyers. If I get to anxious too sell I loose money selling to the wrong buyer.
(Been their done that too many times!)

I plan to do my 71 TA which is only in a Little better condition than this one the same way but I plan to keep it. My problem is my Job keeps me so busy I have very little time to work on these things right now.
