I don't know why you are not a fan of LS engines. They come with nice power and takes very little to make more, dependable, and strong.

Why you got to go there on me man.lol You're right though.lol

Bam
I really do not care for My LS1 engines I have the blown up one from my 98 Vet in the machine shop now and another in a 04 GTO. I find they are under Powered and When I wanted to modify it I found out I couldn't bore them out but only but a few Thousandths like .009 max!
Why on earth GM would make a Block that cant be bored I have no idea
Now its true I can go exotic and Bore all the cylinders out and Sleeve the Blocks to the bore I want but at a price of $2000+ Its cheaper to get a different block like a 6.2 or bigger and bore that or buy an after market Block add in all the special front and rear cover plates and dam its expensive.
I still may go the Sleeve rout just to keep the Matching numbers deal for the GTO but for the Vett it makes little sense they made tens of thousands of these cars there nothing special in my opinion and with a Value of only 8-12 Grand value makes little sense to build an engine for it that would be worth more than the car.

I want a 4.125 bore minimum 400 cubes or larger bigger is BETTER!
When its all said and done to being close to what I want I would have 12-15 grand into a build to do it the way I want not including Dyno time add Turbos and a Fuel system Probably add at least another 10K, If I spent that kinda coin on an Old school 400 it would include a Blower and mechanical fuel injection and make more power!

Its a lot of coin to build big on The LS platform and I have to many other projects on my plate currently so its gonna wait and I will just fix it stock. :?

Doright,

You do realize that the boring is only true for the Aluminum block right. You can do what ever your heart desires to a cast iron LS block. I think the LS is really good engine for a street cruiser and that is what I build. Its not expensive if you are building a street cruzier.

I've seen a cast iron LS that put of 1100 horses. Were they expensive? Yes, but I have buddies with big blocks with crazy power that were also very expensive to build, and lets not get into aftermarket blocks. So when I said whats not to love about a LS I was talking from a cruiser point of view.

But to each their own I have buddies who feel the same but they are older and are afraid of the computerized stuff.lol

Bam
Both of mine are Aluminum blocks and Ya I have seen 1000 hp out of the LS platform too.
Its just stupid money to get there. and Yes I am of the Old school BUT I like the computerized stuff. Its just so expensive is what I cant get over The best Intake out there is a Grand and its PLASTIC!!!! out of an injection mold machine!!!!!! they can crank them out by the tens of thousands but yet they sell em for a Grand each??? Plain old Greed
And so many other parts are the same way stupid expensive
As far as the New stuff goes I would really like to play with the Ford Coyote But there again cubic dollars to go big.

I here you on just building Hot rod Thats why Im not gonna go crazy on my Vetts LS1 just rearing it with recon rods ARP rod bolts and I am Porting the Heads myself.
Nothing fancy with the heads I took out the Big Hump out of the Intake long runner main path from the rocker bolt boss then polishing and smoothing into the bowl Im leaving the Ski jump on the one side of the Guide boss but dressing out other side and polishing it all.
On the exhaust side Im widening and raising the roof of the port a little taking out the spring pocket hump and dressing the guide boss a little. of course I am gonna blend all my work into the bowels as well but again nothing fancy its just a plain old set of 806 or 908s how ever you wanna look at the casting number even ported they don't flow very well. I have the same casting on both engines the Vetts heads do have Titanium Valves though and I do plan on rerunning those.

I would love to put a cam in it too but to put a big enough one to make me happy I have to buy Pistons with Valve reliefs. With Ported heads and a small decent cam I should be able to get close to 400-450 hp which is ok for a street car. I guess?
I would be happier with a little more but then I would have to do the decent set of heads the new pistons better rods better intake bigger injectors maybe a fuel pump and fuel regulator not to mention a Dyno tune.

With the column mod finished, I installed the steering column and I have to say I like it much better than the ididit swivel ball I had in place before. Less busy and a smoother look in my opinion.

Bam, sorry but I have to disagree with you.

That does NOT look like a truck.

That DOES look like one of those $300k (or more, those folks don't talk to me) trailer queen car show winning pieces of art that I drool over at the Goodguys events!!

And do you have a little army of off-camera fabricators helping you out?????

Keep them photos coming.
