Hi my name is John, I am from Buffalo, NY. I have never done body work or painted a car in my life, but its time for that to change. I purchased a '85 Buick T-type which for people who don't know is a trim level under the grand national, meaning it doesn't have the black out package. It has the same drivetrain and is pretty rust free, just a very small amount at the tip of the doors so I was told by the seller who said he was planning to paint it. He had started as you can see in my pictures below.

My Setup: Unfortunately I bought the Devilbiss Startingline 2 gun kit, I have been reading here and found people to not really like this setup, I might still give it a shot with it. I'm not looking for a show quality job, basically anything will make the car look better than what it currently looks like. Air Compressor I still have to buy, I have read to get at least a 60gallon 5hp air compressor. Unfortunately I will most likely get a 60 gallon with a 3.7hp motor for around $400 from lowes or homedepot. I'm not opposed to getting a used one or refurbished but I doubt I will find any in this size. I still need to get all the other accessories for sanding/blocking and what not, I plan to make a booth in my garage to do all this.

Any reccommendations for tools I am interested in.

I'll start out. WELCOME, I am new here myself and have been working on my 79 Mustang Pace Car. A set of the Dura Block sanding blocks as well as some different grits of paper can get you started. Others will chime in I am sure-Jay

If you have space for a 60 gall then you probably have space for an 80. Trust me get the 80, the 60 will probably dissapoint you. And also buy a used one. Usually if it has a mag staterter, you know its gonna make a lot of air. Abything you buy at hd will dissapoint you. Spend the extra hundred on a good used 80 gall

Is there a place or company I can go to that sells used compressors or refurbished ones?

I've read a lot on here and watched some the Eastwood company videos, I'm excited to paint my car, but I have a lot to learn still! And a lot I need to buy

These pictures are from last year around September lol, yeah I haven't done a thing to it body wise since I bought it then.

I'm still waiting on it to warmup so I can run some electrical outlets and good lighting for the garage. Any cheap lighting recommendations?

I use "daylight" bulbs as they allow you to see true colors and are easier on the eyes. I also have some halogen lights on a stand to shine on areas I need a little extra light on.
