Thanks,
Black is the toughest color to get right I have ever painted. I still see areas that need more buffing but I will wait to get it all together first. It will be a week at least before I get back to this bike. 1968 Coronet R/T

Front end back together:
Touched up inner fairing and installed new speakers: I have some chrome switch covers coming to dress up those well worn switches. 1968 Coronet R/T

I changed my worn switch covers on mine they didn't last very long
I am jealous I want to repaint mine but I have sworn to myself not to start any thing else till the Pontiac and Plymouth are done. Yours is looking Sweet Dennis B.

The only reason I am painting mine right now is because I had it apart to install gear driven cams. Was approaching 30k and the old spring tensioners were notorious for failing around this mileage. Mine turned out to still be pretty decent but with the pitting starting I figured go for it.
They say to change them if more than half worn through but I'm planning a ride to San Pedro, California in March. I will meet some friends there and then ride up the coast line and back, then drive home to Arizona. 1968 Coronet R/T

I have a 97 EVO engine I don't have the Cam problem, I have heard the horror story's and seen the parts before on the Cam deal. I'm not sold on on the problem or the cure myself to each his own and if your in there fine but if they are working well I myself can keep pulling the cover to inspect them every so many miles they say to check them.
Sounds like a hell of a fun ride, Last big ride I did I took off for northern CA Eureka area. Havn't done a run like that in forever now though. Dennis B.

This will be my first big ride. Done a few 5 hour stints but that's about it other than driving back and forth to work.
I just found out about Riders USA http://www.ridersusa.net/ and plan to look into it. Looks like it would be fun and for a good cause. 1968 Coronet R/T

The problem is the tensioners start to disintegrate sending little orange bits of plastic through your oil passages to the point where it will frag your engine. The cure for those that have crank run-out in spec is gear drive or for those that don't, a hydraulic set up like the 96'ers have. I'll never own a Twinky unless it had gear drive. |

Hey Nova,
I have heard that roller chain drives are also acceptable for bikes outside the crank run out tolerances. Do you have any experience with them? 1968 Coronet R/T
