Great job.
You have decent dust control. Do you clean the booth walls and wet the floor before you shoot? |
Yes.

The clear kit you used what did it mix to with harder? I know some mix 1:1 making a gallon into 2 gallons. The one I use mixed 4:1 clear. Basically was was the overall material used? Trying to make sure I have enough clear for the gmc. Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

I used the Tamco HC-4100 kit sold here on the Storefront. Mixes 4:1
If you plan to cut and buff you should shoot at least 3 coats of clear, 4 is better if you tend to get heavy orange peel. My new formula for calculating paint needed is this: 10 oz of RTS per coat per panel. With the truck you have the front of the bed and back of cab to figure in so 2 fenders, 2 doors, 2 bedsides, front of bed, back of cab (combine for 1), 1 roof, 1 hood, jambs and front end (combine for 1), tailgate. Estimate 11 Panels, unless you are doing inside the bed and underside of hood, would be 110 oz of RTS per coat. Trucks take a lot of paint. Example: 2 coats of epoxy primer = 220 oz RTS Epoxy Mixes 1:1 so you get 256 oz RTS per gallon kit. Build primer mixes 4:1 so figure 160 oz RTS per gallon kit. 1968 Coronet R/T

Oh alright. So 1gallon and a quart basically. Yea cut and polish was added to the price. I will prob shoot 3 coats then
Thanks for that. Thanks for the formula too! I'm gonna start using that too with the paint I'm using. I should be getting 3 panels done with a 2 quarts according to the formula right? the side of the beds should be accounts for 2 fenders? Extended bed Only because the rear panels of the truck are much larger than the fenders. Last edited by Serf27 on Sun Dec 06, 2015 12:37 am, edited 2 times in total.

Excellent work..
A bit off topic .. Can you let me know more about your booth please. |

Just remember that 10 oz of mixed and ready to spray paint will get you one coat. 3 panels = 30 oz per coat. 3 coats = 90 oz A Quart is 32 oz. Mixed 1:1 = 64 oz (32 oz of paint plus 32 oz of reducer) Mixed 4:1 = 40 oz (32 oz of paint plus 8 oz of reducer) Mixed 2:1 = 48 oz (32 oz of paint plus 16 oz of reducer) Simple math from there. Try it and see how it works for you. You should have some paint left over if you have no issues (like respraying a fender) to deal with. 1968 Coronet R/T
