The brother in law and my nephew got tired of waiting on me. They took a bunch of parts in the booth yesterday and sprayed them for me. He had a few runs due to moving the gun a tad too slow but nothing that can't be fixed. He says the spoiler looks really good. That's where here felt like he finally got the gun speed right. I can't wait to see them.

I was hoping to get away with not having to remove the window regulators, motors and door latch. Mr. Blocker says no way. We need to mask all those holes from the inside to keep any dirt in the door from blowing back out into the color/clear. So it took all morning to break them down and get the masking done. He's going to take care of shooting it during the week. This is not work for the impatient.

I bought into all that Perfect it Stuff thinking it was gonna be the Cats Meow.....
I purchased every thing for it all the special pads polishes special sand papers. All I can say in my own opinion WAY Over priced over complicating a simple process.
I actually get better results with fewer steps with Presta products OR Meguiars products. at less than a third of the cost of the 3M stuff.

I am Not putting it down because it does work

All I know is that it works. I've not tried other products but this was recommended by people who do it for a living so that's what I went with. I'd also say that a DA with a wool pad to start and using the Lake Country white, then black pads makes a difference. It's all expensive but since this is my hobby and my car, I'm OK with that.

Sometime in the future give the Meguiars 105 & 205 a try.

I have tried a number of different Brands but always end up reaching for the Megs 105 and a twisted wool pad for the first go around.

My absolute favorite swirl remover is Menzerna Super Finish SF-3800 (used to be called 85RD). Apply this with a non-cut foam pad and work it as long as necessary.

I'm not sure there will be a next time. This one is trying to kill me! :knockout: :rotfl:

Good information to have, regardless. If I hadn't already purchased the 3M I'd give it a shot.

By all means SD use what you bought its too expensive to through away and it does work well when used as instructed in there instructional DVD that comes with the Kit.
As I said I bought into the system Hook line & sinker, If you haven't seen the training video yet check it out there is a lot to using it properly.

I tried it like I said & I don't care for it. I would be happy to sell any one all of my left over products of the system, I should put all of it up on ebay I guess?
I only used it for Half a Project before Going back to Meguiars Products and then finally trying Presta products. everyone has a different opinion and a Preferred method there is always more than one way to skin a cat.
Its all in what your comfortable with I am just more comfortable getting there with fewer steps, it may be more work but its what I am comfortable with.

It was my first time to ever shoot color/clear.

Bryan has been stacked up at the shop and I can't get in to get the body painted so I've been color sanding. I broke through on these tail light bezels. I figured they're small parts so what the heck. I have a pretty good routine on this kind of stuff in my garage so why not give it a shot.

Overall I'm VERY pleased. I have a little bit of peel in a few places but not bad for a first effort.

Gun is an Eastwood Concours with a 1.4 tip. Color was mixed 1:1 according to instructions. The clear was mixed 2:1 with a 5% reduction. Slow reducer since it was 87 degrees in the garage. Color and clear are Tamco products. Clear was the 2104 Euro Clear.

when i went to spray my 1st car, i was told the perfect it system has some form of oils in them, which can fill scratches rather than refine. the finish can look great at first, but then the oils wash away revealing unrefined scratches.
so i tried megs twins of 105 and 205 with a PC 7424.
although time consuming, the results were flawless and ive been using them since for both cut and butt and paint corrections.
plus i switched to using a rotary and twisted wool pad for initial pass with 105. really sped up the process.
