Got this one in the shop, a 73 Vette for new body mounts, front brakes and paint.
Mouse nest in the right mid body mount lol.
The spare tire hasn't been lowered in decades lol.
The bumper bolt was cross threaded and then excessive force resulted in the damage to the fiberglass. (not by me lol)
Had to plasma torch the bolt head, had a metal plate to protect the 'glass.
Lifted one side at a time to replace the mounts.
Rotted out #4 mount pad.
Body mounts done and the front brakes as well, almost finished stripping the car.
New #4 mount
almost ready for the body shop.
cheers

Those body mounts are just riveted in? Any panel adhesive or something holding them in place?

Those are just the plates that separate the mount from the glass body, and yes they are just riveted in. I went a step further and used panel adhesive on the new mount plates The captured nuts inside the body were just held in with two rivets as well lol. cheers Good judgement comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgement.

Thanks. I have been considering picking up an older Corvette for my next project and having never done one before I am trying to learn what problems to look for.

For the C3's (68-82) some of the problem areas are the birdcages that rust, especially right under the doors above the frame, the frame mounts and make sure the headlights work well opening and closing. If they have issues it can be a real PITA to fix. cheers Good judgement comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgement.

And every different year has its own little problems.
Frames crack, most all have been abused, Heat and AC controls and Vents in center dash wheel bearings go bad very expensive and a pain to repair special tooling required, Door springs in outer Handle, Door locks pain, Radiator saddles rust out, radiators expensive and no fun to R&R, Wiring can be a nightmare. I have had 10 vets over the years My Favorite was the one I didn't have to work on all the time the 96. My 74 Stingray was special to me being a matching number BB car with original Red paint and Black leather interior I worked on it almost as much as I drove it, I may get another Late model some day but No more Stingrays.
