Took a look at the car today looks good. The second pic is the trunk lid, sides not done yet and one more polish on the top. The first is a pic of the roof but just shows the reflection of the roof of the garage door. Not bad for a garage paint job.

Dumb **** sideways pics. Don't know how I do that.
Just an update, car is back form polish, putting everything back on, thought we would have it ready for a couple of drives before winter but things happen. The car turned out way better than I thought it would. The bumpers got chromed last winter and when we put them on they looked so good we decided to get some new trim parts to finish it off. As you can see the eye brows, door handles and such parts are not up to snuff for the car now. So we shut it down till spring. Owner of car stays in Laugfiln NV for winter and when he's there he is going to order the parts to finish it off. So far he has ordered, headliner, front eye brows, rear extension trim, door handles, antenna and a few more things (Had a good first two nights in the casino.) The hash marks have been sent away to get redone. So now we wait until spring to finish it off. First picture is the owner at 19 with his first new car, the only picture he has of it. 1969 Cobra 428 cj.

Got the hashmarks back from chrome shop, there is not to much snow yet so i was able the get into the garage to pick up a few things before real winter sets in. Just had to see what they are going to look like. Still do not know why pics are sideways. If you click on them they correct themselves.

Beautiful car and great work!

I've followed this thread because it brings back memories. In another life, I had a 1969 Cobra with a 428 CJ Ram Air, top loader 4 speed, and a high nodular iron 9" with 31 spline axles. The only mods I did was to change the interior color to black (it was some kind of pukey gold to match the dark green, almost black, exterior paint), change out the crap factory shifter with a Hurst, and change out the factory 735 holley with a 750 holley double pumper. That thing would fly.

The guy I sold it to still has it and has recently completed a rebuild/restore. He did change the exterior paint color from the dark green to ....wait for it.... red, and it looks almost exactly like the Torino GT you're working on.

I don't imagine there would be much interest, but on my car, the there was a single larger hole in the hood under the hood scoop. The air cleaner was the same except the lid only covered the filter itself. A "hat" with a tall rubber seal fit over the air cleaner covering what your chrome lid covers, but had a raised center with a vacuum operated flap. The raised section fit up into the hole in the hood. It doesn't look like it would take much to make it work, although I would imagine the "hat" would be really hard to find. And if the car didn't come with it......

Anyways, great work and thank you for the memories!!

I am surprised that this is not your own car.

My brother owns the car I just get to do all the work on it. Enjoyed working on it. Just a few thing more in the spring and it will be on the road.

Very nice job and I can appreciate the work being an “amateur bodyman” myself. I just joined this year myself and read through the thread. Congrats on how far it has come.
