AMD does not have the tail panel ready yet so I had to do the best I could. Not to bad for a driver. Still have to make some pieces for the left tail light.

It's been a while since I have posted so for anyone interested, this a update. Brought the hood out of the shed and did the repairs to it. Also tried our first attempt at painting. I have become quit good at welding for a newbie. the repairs went very well and for a first paint job I was very happy.

Did the clear coat, to try that out, the hood scoop turned out very good but the hood ended up with orange peel in it. Don't know what we will do with that yet. Also redid the engine, and put that in today transmission tomorrow.

Looks like you did a good job spraying the base coat. Clear is a different animal and isn't sprayed exactly like the base coat is.

How many coats of clear did you spray?

Ended up to be 5, the last coat made it not to bad, it looked a lot better after two days. People who see it say leave it like that and drive it. The hood scope has 4 coats.

You have two options:
1. you sand the clear flat and shoot some more clear (a flow coat)
2. You Cut n Buff the clear you have. (we have a whole separate thread on that process)

Clear as sprayed:

Cut n Buffed:

A little update and story. Put the car together to see how things fit, came out ok and is good enough for me. Taped up the body and going to epoxy in the next few days. In the department of it's to good to be true. Last week was contacted by a guy who moved here from out west who managed a major shop and was also the cut and buff guy. He is retired and want's to cut and buff as a hobby and for some beer money. He would like to do my car to show his work. The price was VERY VERY VERY low. He has done some major car's for some major show's.
