Just had a prospector type guy here who said there is nothing to find in this area and he was going to Quartzsite, AZ because there was more "action there."

As for cars, check out Craigslist. Most of the "deals" seem to be in the cities surrounding Phoenix. A good deal will pop up once in a while here in the Prescott area as well.

I have been to Quartzsite many times Havnt had much luck there its been very Hammered over the years. I like the Bradshaw's. and adjoining mountain networks.
The guy who told you there wasn't anything around Prescott doesn't know what hes talking about. The good Area has been Hammered yes and Claimed up yes, but it is there just have to know what to look for and Be LUCKY.

When I talk about area I am talking about put a thumb tack on the Map and draw a circle encompassing 100 sq miles. Im not about to say what areas I go to publicly.

While washing the lower control arms in preparation for the blast cabinet I discovered some welds that lead me to believe someone removed the sway bar brackets. My guess is they installed the disc brakes wrong (in front) and the sway bar brackets were in the way so they cut them off. Both LCAs have these welds.

That doesn't look like factory welds, but factory welds don't look much better either.

Actually the top portion is part of the bracket still attached. The side weld in the picture looks like they may have cut in the wrong place or too deep and welded it up. On the other control arm there is only the one weld.

Cleaned them up in the blast cabinet.

Does anyone know if I can swap sides with these knuckles?

The disc brake calipers were mounted on the front and if I can swap the knuckles I can mount them at the rear and still have the sway bar installed.

If you told me those black spots at the beginning of the long length of weld in the picture were slag pockets, and with the large splatter, I'd say SMAW and as well, not factory original? Looks like they cleaned up/degreased pretty nice for the cabinet blasting. Not heavily rusted either by my standards.

For the record, the 92 Buick Roadmaster just about got the death penalty because of this. Had it not been for cheap off shore parts, my thoughts it could be a donor for a old 50's coupe project one day, that it's worth crap the way it was, it would have been toast. This front end stuff gets easier every time you do it though. Still isn't fun.

What the plan with those? I'm remembering disc brake and sway bar? Have you finalized the plan? I see you as well mentioned swapping side, could it be that easy?

Fabricated some patches for the inner doors.
Started with the easy one (LOL) since it has been a while since I did anything like this.

After

This one was much more challenging:

Step one:

After but I still need to drill a hole in it.

Not perfect but I hope to get better as the project progresses.

68, love watching your thread. It's threads like yours that keep me from getting too discouraged about my now 3-year old project that I originally estimated 6 weeks for me to complete (missed that one)

Great work!

What kind of blasting/media cabinet do you have? What media do you use?

Looks great. Lots would have thought they needed new doors. I'd say good a new.
