I plan on sending PainterDave some of my stuff for chrome as well.
It will be a while though, since I have to spend money and time on the body repairs.

The cost of parts for these rare Mopars is astronomical. Just saw a speedometer assembly with no tachometer for a '69 GTX and the guy wants $2200.00 for it. His had the 1,2,3,4 number where mine is the 10,20,30 mph set up.

Yeah prices are nuts. I did see a crazy amount of rare mopar parts at Carlisle this year. I had not see that many classic mopar parts up there in decades. Might be ppl who have been hoarding are realizing they are never going to be able to use the parts and now selling? But none of it was cheap.

It is worse when the car your restoring is "year and model specific" on the trim. Found this out when I ordered a nice looking rear tail light from a '68 Roadrunner and it didn't match.
When I questioned why, I was informed the 1968 GTX was a one-off package.

Need some help with deck lid torsion bars.

Deck Lid Torsion Bars.JPG

Decided to test fit the deck lid to see if any modifications were needed. The problem is when you close the trunk lid, there is a loud popping sound coming from the torsion bars sliding to the rear of the slot they ride in.

I even put a dab of grease between the plastic bushing and the cam on the hinge.

Is this because I don't have enough tension on them?

Do the center of both Torsion bars still have the Plastic rubber wrap on them?
Their was a Heavy rubber on centers of each bar back in the day mine is still intact on Plymouth. i blasted them leaving it in place before painting with epoxy.

Mine just had an S shaped clip holding the bars at the center where they cross.
I haven't had a chance to play with it since.

The sliders look good and both bushing?

Remove one bar at a time and test

I bought new plastic sliders sliders because the other two cracked the last time it popped.
My thoughts are that the upper slot behind the hinge may be worn. By chance do you have a picture of what they looked like new?

My computer crashed on Wednesday, have a new motherboard coming for it tomorrow, so I am borrowing my wife's computer for email access. All my pics are on my computer.

No I don't, I dint pull mine on the Plymouth or the Charger (Haven't even started on the Charger yet. They are the same though) (Same as Fire bird even) Leaving odark 30 be back next week I can take some pics if you still need then.

Like I said though I have seen them break one just one side and if you tried one at a time you probably be able to narrow it down.

Notice the retaining lip on the left side looks damaged compared to the one on the right side.
