Now that was Chemically stripped and treated NICE! Your lucky to have a company near by that does that kind of work.
Most places that do this type of work as Part of the final treatment is a Phosphate etch bath as a anti flash rust deal correct?
They didn't mention how to remove the coating before trying to weld on it did they?
The metal treatment I use on panels Has to be cleaned off super clean before I can weld.
This entails a bit more than just Sanding it off I found other wise I sand impurity's into the metal which can cause problems while Tig welding.

the 69's my favorite too. saw and heard a boss 429 when i was a kid and fell in love. apparently the 429's arent very street friendly (something about head gaskets) so id love a 428. not sure if the 69 was available with a 351 cleveland, but id take one set up with that engine even.
