quick question
can i add some metal flake to some more clear and spray over and then a few more coats of clear to bring out the shine more ? is there a way to do this ? |
Sure, that is how you can do it, or you can add the flake to some IC (inter coat, clear basecoat, flake carrier among other things that it is called.) then bury in clear. But I would do some practice panels first. Flake can vary from almost pearl size to Huge Bass Boat looking stuff - There are different colors but I like the silver or chrome flakes then candy over them. But I have only done smaller pieces. You will also need the correct tip size depending on your flake size. If its your car, go wild experimenting. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

yeah its my car and i didn't know how it was going to turn out for my first ever full respray
but i am pleased with it and friends are commenting on it all the time. was looking at blocking down the whole car and then adding this to my clear coat https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hemway-Autom ... :rk:5:pf:0 then blasting over it with 2 more coats of just clear to get the depth and shine |
Cool! Looks awesome.
There are some more places here in the US that you should check out, Tropical Glitz, TCP Global, Paints with Pearl to name a few. Shoot some test panels that match your car, then tape off sections and try different products (pearls, metal flakes etc) with different amounts of coats in different colors and write down the products as you go. Hell, you can always sand it off and start over - ask me how I know! Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

I wouldn't use Flake I would and Have played with Pearls though.
I would Order some Sign Blanks and Play with those first or a couple of hoods from a junk yard Before doing your car. Dennis B.
