Question, did you say you tack weld the doors to set the gaps or you set the gaps and tack weld the quarters until your happy.

Off the rotisserie, cut the rear quarter off and time do more rust work.

I will answer this one. No you don't tack weld the doors.
Install the doors and align them prior to installing your new quarter panel. Fit the quarter until it gives you the proper gap at the door edge and then tack the quarter in place.

Yes, your process is typically how I would have done it, I read probably too much into his descriptive on getting perfect gaps by welding components / doors in place

I replaced the quarter on my fairlane many many years ago

Camaros are notorious for bad fighting panels. So getting yours right will make it stand out even to the untrained eye.

Just out of curiosity could you post pics of the back side of the quarter Panel you cut off please? just want to see how bad the Rust was on whole panel.

I just wanted to see how far the rust extended.
Like my car it looks like the rust was mainly concentrated around the wheel well and the Trunk drop off areas behind the rear wheel as far as what I can make out from your pic?
