I've got the doors, deck lid and hood cut and buffed. I cut the fenders today and started buffing the body. I sprayed these small parts yesterday.

I only had some small parts and one fender to buff, I painted the fenders and the doors at the same time. I have a feeling I had a senior moment and only sprayed 2 coats of clear on one fender.

I ended up buffing through the clear in three places on the fender. I wasn't happy, the tone of the paint was weird so I got my DA out and sanded the fender down to the urethane primer. I put two coats of epoxy on it followed by two coats of urethane primer. Guide coated it and sanded it with 220 grit knowing I'm probably would have to put another couple of coats of urethane on it to get rid of the the DA imperfections. Guide coated it again and it's perfect.

I cut the fender last night and will paint the matte black on it tomorrow, I'll wait a few days to buff it. Can't wait to take down the paint booth.

Thanks for the replies, I installed the doors today. I had pinned the hinges which along with the engine hoist made it easy.

I've painted quit a bit and I also order 50 each of 1/4 and 5/16" body bolts and U-nuts. Anything that wasn't under the car was in good shape. Being my dad was a mechanic I always took care of the things like keeping door hinge bushings lubed.

I Glass bead and re-plate mine with a Cadmium and I do copper & Nickle.

I don't endorse the cold Black oxide as it doesn't last without constant reapplication of a protective coating but the Cadmium plating works great!

I am looking into a True Hot Black oxide coatings with Salts similar to whats on Guns.
There is also a Way to get parts bolts nuts etc. with Hot really hot and dip them into used engine oil that's gets them black But I don't know how long it will last? The Cold system looked great but it doesn't last and was very expensive and didn't go very far.
I did a lot of Black that now needs to be redone.
I may revisit the Blackening with Oil and try using a Protective wax instead of a oil coating to get the black to survive. But as of now it doesn't last very long before it starts rusting again So I am doing every thing in Cadmium or Nickle.

Painting hardware always chips off or mars after install then starts rusting again, The Plating Lasts and it can be tinted Gold or Blue.

I was able to spray clear over the Plated parts with success its lasted many years now.
Also the Plated parts really POP! plus they can be polished for even more brilliance.

What clear did you use, when I can I upgrade to new stuff but I do use old stuff and if it's some kind of alloy I buff it up but it still needs clear coated. Like these wiper arm pivots.

I am making progress putting this back together.

Making progress on the car, made some door sill plates out of some stainless steel.

I hate the mess polishing parts makes so I'm using this tent as a polishing room.

Installed the Dynamat and carpet.

Ordered this 2.5" stainless steel exhaust kit and have the system tacked, took me a long time to get this done.
