1969 Chevy C10
So, hey, I checked back on page 1 and it looks like you are now at just about a year on this project. I think that's pretty quick considering what had to be done.

Nice job. I follow the thread frequently. Will you do another project after this truck and show the working here in the forum?

Yes, I have a 1968 Plymouth GTX that I started on but had to put on hold to tackle this '69 Chevy and one other project. 1968 Coronet R/T

Thanks.
Got the tail light and right beside molding installed today. Started working on the hood. Used about 40 welding studs to pull the dent area since there is no access to the back without removing the main support structure. You can see how buckled the hood was in this picture: The hood skin was completely detached from the support structure bracing and oil canning really bad when I was trying to work the dented metal. So I cleaned up the area to apply some 3M NVH Dampening material, however the gaps in areas were 3/4" high. Ended up running a shrinking disc over the hood until I had an even 1/4" gap along the support brace for the NVH material. Filled the gaps but this stuff has a 24 hour curing time, so no more work today. Here you can see where I shrunk the metal. 1968 Coronet R/T

Freshly painted:
Got a couple of small specks of dust and one fly to deal with but for the most part it came out looking pretty decent. 1968 Coronet R/T

Need some help from you Chevy Truck guys.
Got the hood installed today: The front lined up great but the back not so good. I lowered the hinges as far as I could and rotated them toward to the rear to further lower the hood. However, it clearly needs to go further. Here you see the gap grow from front to rear: Any suggestions on how to remedy this? 1968 Coronet R/T

So is that like about a 1/4 inch up on the back of that hood? If it wasn't in paint I'd be maybe putting some wood up under the front of the hood and slowly try tweeking down on that gap but you are all painted up..... hmmm....must be some shimming trick to that.... Do you think the metal working/bracing changed this up?

Can you give us a picture of where the hinge brackets mount on to the bonnet? Maybe a few pictures, including the other end of the hinge.
I had a similar problem recently with a Mini van and was able to, eventually, get it to the point where it wasn't really noticeable. One of your other photos shows what looks like an uneven gap between the plenum cover and guard. It's not as much as the bonnet is out but may help if you can lift the front of it up a little. Chris

Thanks guys. This will definitely help as it gives me more options.
Maybe a combination of lowering the hood a bit and raising the cowl grille some will work. 1968 Coronet R/T
