My daughter hit a deer going about 10 mph she said the dumb deer just ran right up into her passenger's side fender. So new cheap off shore replacement but fit was outstanding:

Filler work on both quarter panels. First a coat of fiber glass body filler was applied over weld seam to prevent moisture from getting to weld. Then regular filler on top of that. The car had accident damage in both quarter panels which caused a major struggle to get correct shape especially since car was going back to its original black paint. But filler is thin as I could get it tapped panels around ect just kept working them:

Dents every single panel and many many layers of paint. At one point I resorted to 40 grit because of so many layers of paint so many paint jobs over the years. Simply can not go over top a big mess like that so lot of sanding:

So fast forward a coupe months many many rounds of prime, block, prime, and repeat. Car was going to be black so keep at it. Decided it was time to get it out side wash it off and give garage a good cleaning:

So paint guy comes over to look at car and tells me doors not straight enough for a black car. He said any other color they would be fine. He said I pushed too hard on block and caused ripples where door skin bonded to internal door crash bar. So he said get them wet with wax grease remover after blocking and look at reflection to see if ripples were gone. Here they are nice and straight:

Painter refused to take car unless I prep the new fender. He told me prime and block it he did not have any time for that type of work. So new fender prepped. Here is car finally ready for painter to take to his shop. My daughter bought front and rear bumpers new, new outside door handles, and new outside mirrors which painter was willing to prep those as is. Note on Si trim outside door handles and mirrors are body color.

Painter spent a little time sanding some before shooting the black paint. He let me stop by for the unmasking. Painter insisted fenders be painted off the car for proper coverage. After leaving his shop I think I shed tears I was so happy how it looked.

Painter brought car back in an enclosed trailer. He is only a couple of miles away. Here it is back in my garage. My daughter stops by later that day to see her car. She was pretty much speechless pretty much in awe shocked.
And one more from the paint booth. Painter off to the right in picture. He is a zero bs type of guy decades of paint experience he is very gifted and talented: Last edited by 69cuda340s on Thu Jun 10, 2021 11:41 pm, edited 3 times in total.

Rebuilt power sunroof because it never worked right and did a lot of other things so car was in good working order. Here it is shortly before my daughter came to take it home to her house. This was sometime in summer 2020 so car go turned around in under a year. Me and daughter very happy with how it turned out:

One other note is 3M Cavity Wax was sprayed inside quarter panels before rear interior panels were installed after car was painted. This will insure moisture will not get to metal on inside of quarter panels.
Another note is drains in patch panels were added to lower rear of panel where they meet inner fender. That way moisture has a way to exit the panel and not pool up. See red circle in picture below: It should also be noted that by panel bonding patch to lower panel surfaces that moisture can no longer get between the inner and outer metal panels. |
