So, I'm going to just get this up here for now. My grandson has committed to doing a Smyth Jeep Grand Cherokee Truck/Ute build. Just placed the order so we might be starting by October/November of this year with an estimated completion date of March 2022. Kind of excited because of some of the neat stuff that are on these vehicles. Dana rear and front drivetrain and a crap load of aftermarket parts available for modding. If you have about 9 minutes to spare, take a look at the fast forward on the build here....

Cool project I am in middle of my Jeep Commander build.
Still trying to get all the Parts together for the engine build, 5.7 Hemi stuff is really hard to get right now every thing for it is on Back order due to Covid. I Finally got the Block heads crank rods and Pistons from machinist he had them for 8-9 months! he was waiting on the custom made pistons for it to bore the Block. Plus his own Covid problems with his staff. I am still waiting on Cam, lifters, and Head gaskets, ARP head bolts, 6 week wait on all that! The lifters are coming strait from Ma Mopar, Cam was easy Comp cam had those in-stock. The custom Cometic Head gaskets are a 6 week wait, ARP is out of stock on head bolts and on back order. Headers are here still have to order the 4 inch lift kit and new wheels and Tires. Shooting for 600hp but will be happy with what ever it makes after tuning. Will look similar to this after lift and tires https://www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel ... n-lift-4in Planning fairly radical front and rear custom made Bumpers with a 12k lb winch and custom steel tube fender flares and rock sliders. I have yet to order a New Tube bender and Dies and Bead roller so I can build the custom Bumpers and Fenders flares for it but I will be soon. Dennis B.

A guy in my church has a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee but when I mentioned someone might be interested in buying it he said, "Nope, I've had it since the time it only had 2 miles on the odometer."
His wife had a different look on her face. LOL 1968 Coronet R/T

Yeah, guys get really attached to them. My grandson had a 99 model for about 5 years. He bought it off a neighbor for $1000. Ohio rust had literally killed the metal underneath so I sold it for him. I pointed out EVERTHING that was wrong with it to the guy that bought it and he still wanted it for off road.... I got...you guessed it..... $1000 for it!

Its an Overland model I wanna build it so it lives up to the name LOL Its for the Wife she loves Big Jeeps and Big power, I wanted to get 35's under it But I really don't see it happening 33's will be pushing the limits of the 4 inch lift and no one makes a 6 inch any more for it. The Commander model never really took off in the Jeep world got canceled. Same Chassis as the Grand Cherokee but extra seats. will make a Nice off road Camping rig lots of room for Junk. Dennis B.

UPDATE.... Well, after searching for a month or so I finally found a southern example of these Jeeps that is NOT a rust bucket. In southern Tennesse I found a 2003 Grand Cherokee Overland Edition. We drove down last night, looked it over, test drove it, and it was good enough. Interior was in excellent shape, no OHIO rust on the undercarriage, and well, that special edition was built to compete with the Land Rovers of that year so pretty loaded. Also has a higher output version of the 4.7 putting out stock 265 h.p. with 325 ft lbs. of torque. They teamed that up with a 3.73 rear and all the underpinning are Dana. The plan is for me and the grandson to drive it out until November 1st when we'll start the build. We are pretty pumped to get moving on it..... here is a few pic.s
