Yeah, structurally it is pretty great. My grandson and Riley drove it 370 or so miles all the way from the dealership back home. Ran, straight and true. We mostly just have a few minor sensor gremlins to track down. Really like the fact that it has the factory tow package on it already. They list the tow limit at 6500 pound which is good for an older SUV like this...
We are going to "try" something different on this build once we are past the truck part of it. I'm going make a single piece or sectional hard cover for the bed and we have discussed taking a mold off of the entire rear section so we can make a high "cap" for the bed.....

So we are getting closer for our build time.... the kit is shipping out to us next week. It's pretty much just like my Charger kit. It will all come in one big 2 x3 x 8 wooden box. The tailgate and rear window are probably being direct shipped from aftermarket suppliers. It's nice on the Jeep kit because you reuse the Jeep tailights with just some light trimming.

Waiting anxiously to see this build. My guess is you will knock it out very quickly now that you have the experience of your previous build.

It's really something with these Jeep builds.... I've been looking through some of the ones that I've seen done and honestly I can't see this taking more than 2 to 3 months, tops. I think the 3 of us guys can wrap it up in about 100 total shop hours. Paint is going to be a completely different animal on this....wait till you see what my Grandson wants to do......

Whohoo it is finally in..... So...the journey begins, we got our 500 pound Jeep crate parts in on Monday. We just happened to be delivering furniture about a mile from the YRC terminal. They got us loaded in about 5 minutes. Just a few pic.s here of the "the wrecking crew"again with our new goodies box of parts. And yes, from this we'll be making a 2003 Jeep SUV into an awesome pickup truck....

Ha, ha..... yeah, custom paint..... That would be custom paint in the mind of a mid 20s professional photographer! Honestly, I'm not sure where my Grandson will end up wth that. Currently he's thinking of some variation on the stock silver paint probably in a textured medium. A lot of guys are learning how to manipulate Raptor bedliner beyond trim which appeals to that rock crawler crowd. Will he be taking this Jeep off road? Well, I could see him possibly hitting some mudding with it..... it's his vehicle so it's going to be his plan. :pcorn:
