Like Dennis, I use a 1.4 tip for epoxy primer. You can use the large tip for your 2k build primer steps.

I wouldn't worry about orange peel in the epoxy primer unless it was excessive. If you shoot your next coat with the right size tip, things will smooth out. Plus it will all get sanded after the 2k primer goes on.

You got to learn to love to Sanding by hand! with the longest Block you got!
Sanding makes or breaks a great Paint job!
Always in an X pattern.

Water Trap video

Lots more on Utube some guys go up and down, some feed Bottom to top some Top to bottom, I feed top to bottom so water is pushed to Trap.
Doesn't need to be elaborate doesn't need to be expensive Just need at least 20 feet of pipe too cool the air! so water can condense and drop out the more length it is the better to cool the air (Hot air holds water) and don't forget a place to catch the water so it can be drained. Then plumb the shop and Paint station. where filters and desiccant drier would be placed and Air regulator.

Awesome desicant air drier for the money very hi-flo

Do you need what I have absolutely not!, Its the flow you need to be concerned with No fittings under 1/2" Smallest pipe fittings in my system is 5/8" till the air sees my Quick disconnects.

Guide coat
3M dry guide coat is the best in my opinion. I never sand with a DA though always with a Block and always in an X pattern. Using a DA is advanced stuff doesnt get Panel totaly flat in my opinion.

Paint gun adjusting and more, I used to be a Fan of Kevins Not so much any more. But he does Know what he is talking about. I just don't buy into all the Eastwood crap.

Cut and Buff stuff
I don't agree with All Technique that he promotes using multiple sanding steps that many have fallen into Its advanced stuff in my opinion.

Beginners should stick to one sanding step and concentrate on learning the buffing stage.
Sand once with 1200 and use a cutting cream for 1200 grit works great with a Rotory OR DA type buffer finalize with a good swirl remover done!

DA Buffers are great Very forgiving and doesn't burn the paint Takes a little longer though. I turn people loose with a DA buffer that have never buffed before on my paint jobs with out worrying they will burn the paint or Buff through clear.
Rotary Buffers are FAST and can and will burn the paint especially on the edges.

Thats my BS :knockout:
Here is what Kevin says he gives good tips tricks and Techniques. And I will say it again Multiple sanding steps is advanced stuff and should be avoided by the Novice! Sand once Buff polish done.

OK; the car is block sanded by hand. Miata's are kinda hard to sand because they are all "swoopy" Nothing flat on the panels.

The largest I would go on 2K primer is 1.8 my self.

Only thing I would use bigger than a 1.8 would be with a Poly Primer which really isnt a Primmer at all more of a spray-able filler that's sands Like cement!
But it has its place and a time to use it.
