A buddy came by the shop today with the first bike i've painted.
My 2 megapixel camera sucks! But the finish is excellent. :)

Here's some sketches of the 2nd bike i'm working on. Gotta get this
done ASAP (whatever that means). I got a photo of the bike in side
profile, scanned it into Illustrator, made outlines of the pieces
and made copies to sketch on.

It's taking forever...

Adobe Illustrator, It's the premier "drawing/illustrating" program that's
been out for many years now. I prefer a light box though for something
like this.

It IS a pain! j/k...

The process is straight forward.

1. The tank was chemically stripped then scuff 80. Etch primed, then 2 coats of epoxy.
2. the fairing was manually stripped with 220 (i thinks) inside and out.
Followed up with scuff pad. 2 coats of epoxy.
3. Wetsand everything with 400. Shot the chevy yellow (5459 i thinks).
Layed 3 coats of clear. Let dry (few days) then wetsand 600.
4. Used 1/4" 3M blue vinyl to layout the flames.
5. Shot 4 coats of Old Skool flake gold pearl mixed in clear base;
Dupont 150 Balancer. The flames are WAY too ghost. I either didn't
mix enough pearl and/or didn't shoot enough coats. BUT, when the sun
hits it just right, the flames sweet.
6. Lastly, shot 3 more coats of clear.

The base coat is Dupont Chromabase. The epoxy and clear is **********.
you can check out the pics of this bike on my photobucket album.
