Hi Dennis, they didn't get my passport so I at least had that and could board a plane.... We immediately went back to the apartment and called all the cards. They had not tried to use any of them so I think all they wanted was the money. I had just hit the ATM and got 200 Euro so they probably followed the old man and knew I had my wallet in my front pocket and they still got it. Its been a real pain replacing everything especially having to change address too. We moved to one story house circa 1957 in Villa Park Ca. about 15 min from the old house.

Good luck on finding a house with enough property around it to have your shop. Dave found one like that on the outskirts of Hermit but couldn't complete the deal because his buyers backed out.
it needs to be lowered with big and littles. .

Im glad you were able to get back to your Room and report everything before those girls were able to do any damage to your credit, Still kinda ruins a vacation.

New house sounds like its gonna be fun remodeling.

I am just looking for a small place maybe an acre? like I said out of town not really planning on building another shop just want a small place I can hang my hate during the work week, I will still commute back and forth each week.

I hope the rest of the trip was a success, the wallet and the cancelled flight sure takes a bite out of the fun. Hate thieves with a passion. I don't even carry a wallet, just a money clip with a few cards in my pocket, hard enough for me to get it out of there let alone anyone else. A new house to reno should be fun along with irritating, hopefully more on the fun side.

Hope you find something that works for you Dennis, never easy finding something that suits all or most of your needs.

I'm still working on the paint booth, ever so slowly

The trip was a success sort of but not great. I normally do the same as you while traveling but not having a home to leave all the other stuff in I carried it all with me :flatten: just allot of unforeseen things happened on this trip :splat: :splat: :splat: The remodel should be good after we accept everything we want to do is costing three times what we budgeted :knockout: :flatten: and now it looks like we will need to move out for about 6 months

Hey Guy's
Doug
Wow sounds like your gonna do a lot of remodeling to the new place?
I would put some sort of penalty in the contract with the contractor for a completion date ? and definitely something about quality workmen ship used throughout project.
Contractors just are not the same as they used to be.

They show up to pick up the checks and FAIL to show up for the work AND they do show up its just the crew with no contractor no boss they Rush through the work slapping it together with little to no concern of what it looks like or how long it will last.

By the way what was the results of the fix to the Car? is it gonna be an easy fix or do you have to change stuff? Pics please?

Rob

The budget over run doesn't sound good at all Doug, never fails though, costs of everything keep going up and up. Having to move out for 6 months   How are you going to make that work? :splat:

Retirement has been awesome Dennis, love every minute of it. Can you believe it's been almost 5 years  Where does the time go?

I'm getting close to finishing my part of the paint booth, should be ready to get the insulation guys in there later October and then hopefully get a drywall guy without too much of a wait. While I'm waiting on those guys I can start picking away a bit on the Stang and then get real busy when the booth is done. It has been forever since I worked on it

Hi Dennis, the fix on the car is done and it runs, turns and stops with no leaks anywhere. I didn't take any pictures I don't want to remember it. :realmad: As I have nowhere to park it in the garage Dave is keeping it for me in his spray booth

Hi Rob, bet you are almost done with the Booth?

WE haven't started work on the house or the pool its something new every day. :flatten: :flatten: :flatten: :flatten:

Not quite done on the booth Doug, waiting on a heat pump for the shop, once I have that sorted out I can insulate and sheet rock. It's the final bit of wiring so I want access to the panel before finishing the walls. Hopefully sometime around year's end? Maybe wishful thinking, but it's getting closer.

Nice to hear you got all the bugs out of the steering/suspension issues. I hope the remodelling of the house gets going soon and without any extra headaches.

Any updates on your projects Dennis? Any luck finding the fixer upper house out near your work?
Rob

Hey Doug
No haven't found a Project house yet but still looking waiting till after silly season is over before doing anything. Chevelle is making some Progress off and on on my weekends.
Still haven't gotten Firebird on the Rotisserie yet been trying to make room for it.

I Started building Skips Transmission for his truck last weekend and almost have it done, I have to finish it up today.
I also built a new Project Table to build it on out of Steel on rollers and got rid of one of my Wooden Benches. I like it a lot more than the wood, I can just push it around the shop to get it out of my way or where I need it.
I welded a Lot of tools to it so there mounted permanently to it unless I cut the welds mostly stuff for working Sheet metal like my Sheet metal Brake, Throat less sheer a Vice and a small Arbor press, I also mounted my Transmission Building to it like the The Transmission Stand Cradle it holds the Transmission case while building a Transmission allows me to flip it over and Tilt it while building a Transmission up i also mounted my Automatic Transmission Clutch press as well to it.
The Table is Busy with all the tools mounted to it but there still room too do work.
