That's great news. We were hoping to go to Monroe for the swap meet but it doesn't look likely now. The US side extended the border being closed until Sept 21 and with the 4th wave kicking in I expect they will extend it again. For some weird reason we can fly down but can't drive? I don't understand that?

I finally stripped the driveshaft, mostly surface rust but also a fair bit of undercoating. You'd think they would remove it before undercoating.

Undercoating is one of the last things to happen on the assembly line I beleave?

Ya doesn't make sense you can fly But not drive? wow that's is really weird.
I tell you what what I just got over really wasn't all that bad really I have been a lot sicker in my day from the Flu. although this did drag on for some time. BUT I was Immunized for it as well. I would like to get the test that checks for antibody's that would prove without a doubt that I had it.
All I can say for sure is I know for sure I was around some one who was confirmed positive for Covid, I was tested negative before entering the country and after arriving in country I got sicker than a dog within 36 hours, Then was tested again the other day it again showed a negative!

I really don't think the testing works as good as they say, and I think they know it.

I am a little over a 100lbs over weight drink like a fish and smoke almost two packs a day borderline diabetic pushing 60 and if what they say is true I should be DEAD!

I don't think the testing is all that great either. Have heard of people that are totally fine testing positive and others sick as dogs testing negative.
It could be that being vaccinated kept you from getting much worse, who knows, symptoms range from nothing to death. Main thing is you're back on track.
You would think the border is either open or not, and if anything driving should be ok not flying where you're in a confined space with 100+ other people.

I think they want people to get sick, They want the numbers to go back up.

I hate the masks, I don't even like wearing them in the shop when I know I should let alone having to wear one anytime I go anywhere.

I primed the seat frames yesterday, will paint today. I'll be trying the vacuum bag trick once the paint is dry. The bag will have to go over the frame and cushion but should still work I would think. Tear it out at the end.

Well that plan won't work. Because of the bolsters the covers have to be hog ringed down both sides about 5" in and also across from one side to the other.
It's not going well, really hard to line up the cover where you need it. You have to turn it inside out to be able to hog ring the inner listing wires. If you're an inch off it's impossible to move the cover :realmad:

Sounds like you need an extra set of hands on this one?
You can always take it to an Upholstery shop ? should cost too much ?
At least you tried.

Their are things like doing head liners and Vinyl roofs that although I understand and know how to do it, I just don't have the extra hands necessary to do the job so I am not above Taking it to a shop lol.

You can get them to give you a good estimate on installing the Convertible Vinyl roof at the same time if not go ahead and do it at same time?
Don't tell me your planning on doing that one yourself?
That's one job I definitely wouldn't want to try, again I have seen it done and read about doing it but their is just so much to screw up. Its one of those jobs You want to have done with some one else in charge multiple times before doing it yourself.

It's not so much the extra hands as it is not knowing exactly where to start. I managed to get the cover on but it was too high up on the cushion and no way to move it. Had to take it all apart and do some drinking. It's a real pain getting the hog rings into the channels so the hit and miss approach stinks.
I will be calling an upholstery shop. No I'm definitely not going to do the top myself, not a chance. Thanks for mentioning it, I will ask them about it. I'm nowhere near ready for it, still need to clean, sand and paint the frame, and also mount it on the car. But at least I can get an idea on the cost and details.
My Riv could use a new headliner, that will go to an upholstery shop as well.

Looks like this when you're hog ringing the listing rods. There's no reference marks to line up the cover with the foam so you're just guessing.

Is that the seat bottom or Back of the front buckets?

Your talking about the listing Wire in the Vinyl correct?

What kit do you have? Lots of how to videos on them on U Tube such as TMI.

As I remember in one of my Interior books You Tie the listings in the cushion foam groves first then install the vinyl.
