I finally got to pick up the engine for the Wife's Commander! 9 months later!
Meanwhile I was left with task of figuring out final compression and ordering custom thickness Cometic head gaskets (5-6 week wait!) amongst other things like figuring out the new Push rod length for the newer heads. I paid him to do this stuff for me mind you.
Still need to order the cam and Lifters and ARP Head bolts which are also on Back order!
So that aint getting put together till after I am back from my next deployment coming up shortly.
Then day before yesterday I noticed Coolant under her little car! Ordered a New Water pump for it picked up a Little while ago now I have to go out their and put that on.
Oh and My 69 Dodge Pick up front left tire was flat! Its got brand new BFG 35s on it!!!! that havn't even been driven on them yet!!!! a hole in the side below the tread HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN????? I put the tires on in the shop and just drove it into the yard seriously not even a 1/4 mile on them yet. That one blows my mind.
Over the weekend I helped Calvin set the cam timing on another new Cam in his VW tdi.
He was Bragging how he wasn't buying the special oil for it any more because it was so expensive and hard to get, So he changed over to another name brand and I told him not to do it repeatedly !!!!
Oh no he knows more than me!
He bragged about it at 10k miles no problem at 20k miles no problems @ 30K miles its making noise & Needs a New cam LOL!!!! Told you so!!!!!!!!
Wanna Brag about that oil some more I asked him?
H installed a New Hi pressure pump as well so I tried it on mine which confirmed My Vw needs New fuel injectors
I got the new Head on mine with a New Cam water pump timing belt bla bla bla ran great for two weeks Now it needs the new fuel injectors. new are almost 800 each IF you can find them there are a couple shops world wide rebuilding them for 450 - 700 each. i found a shop that will rebuild my whole set for 1200 I am gonna do that I think.
There are two sets listed as overhauled out of China for 500 on ebay BUT I dunno if I really wanna trust that.
