quicker faster easier and cheaper I think.

This is pretty much the approach I took with my TA project, getting all the mechanical mods out of the way, while also having fun with a decent driver. I’m in about 1-1/2 years on the project although I spent a lot of time on the Camaro project. Time to get back at it, but I admit the Camaro project left me a bit burnt out. Racing is also now taking up every Saturday as well. The draw back to getting the mechanicals done first in my opinion is the mess bodywork makes of everything no matter how you try to keep stuff covered.

Good luck on the final push with the Stang. It looks great.

Thanks, I'm splitting duty between the Stang and the TR. The Stang always needs parts that can take a month to get so it has freed up some time.

I wanted to just get the TR running but it needs everything, engine, trans, brakes and wiring at the least. After completely rewiring the Stang the thought of tearing it all back out to do all the body is a no go. I'll do the full frame and all that goes with it, restore engine bay, floors and trunk, then put the body back on and deal with the fitting and bodywork.
At least I think that's my plan, still doing some research. This one will have better documentation and a better plan. I really didn't do the Stang in a very logical order as it turns out.

I have done them both ways The 41 Ford and 48 Lincoln just went a lot faster starting with good running driving cars Just replacing seals and Paint.

The Fire Bird Has Got me by the Gonads, Its been so long since it was torn down and being in such poor condition to begin with. But I am working it Just finished up Epoxing the last of the Big items Gonna start putting some Feather fill on the door skins Tomorrow and Hopefully Mask off the Body for another coat of Primer.

Got the Sub-frame all Painted, now and I have the Suspension pieces Blasted and in Black epoxy I can start assembling that stuff. I just remembered I still have to Blast and Paint the Coil springs Dang it!

Painting coil springs sounds challenging. I guess it doesn't matter if they aren't perfect, just a lot of everything in the way.
Really need some pics of this bird.

I got the trans tunnel cover off this morning, bolts came out great. The seat tracks had to be cut out, all bolts totally rusted in. The transmission will be coming out next, through the inside as odd as that is.
This is the starting point

What are you getting your self into now?
Oh man B4 it really gets out of hand do your self a BIG favor and finish the Stang first!
Dont do like I did and have Two or three different cars tore apart all at the same time Trust me its a Nightmare!
Love Old MG myself I sure wouldn't have been able to pass that one up!

I did get the doors epoxy scuffed & Feather fill put down then sanded that and started doing filler work. (God I hate filler work!)
The Passenger door while it looked ok in bare metal enough that I thought It would be a semi easy but man its in ruff shape! The driver door is great just a few low spots to touch up.

Ya didnt get around to the Coil springs today... I did find a set for $60 new though plus shipping..... I decided just to blast and paint these. After shopping for parts and spending another $800 on this basket case, Mostly Brake stuff and front end stuff.
I need the stuff so I can get it off the Spit and back down as a Roller.\
I still need to order Interior stuff Not looking forward to that! My credit card is already Crying!

It's a 59 triumph TR3 that I've owned for over 40 years. Hard to tell without the front cowl on it. Unfortunately it sat outside for a number of years and the motor seized, transmission isn't shifting either. Both are getting rebuilt which will be a slow process. It's been sitting as you see it for about 4 years and it makes me nuts. I want to finish it while I can still climb in and out of it.
I hope to have the Stang pretty much done before I go hog wild on tearing the TR down.

Sounds like you're getting close too, problem is the final bit makes the credit card burst into flames. I've spent more this last bit than I did getting to this point. And I still need wheels and tires.

I'm still ordering parts for the Stang, got to be close to the end. I made a list of everything left to do, still a pretty big list but at least it's right there in front of me.
I got the ebrake handle sorted out but I'm a bit worried about the driveshaft hitting it. I need to get 1.5" lowering blocks and then put the driveshaft in and see how it looks. Started putting in the sound deadener mats, that's a bit of a challenge with all the humps and curves.
Pulled the trans in the TR so it's going off for inspection and rebuild if needed. Rear brakes are seized bad, might wait until the body is off before I worry about it.

I finally got to pick up the engine for the Wife's Commander! 9 months later!
Meanwhile I was left with task of figuring out final compression and ordering custom thickness Cometic head gaskets (5-6 week wait!) amongst other things like figuring out the new Push rod length for the newer heads. I paid him to do this stuff for me mind you.
Still need to order the cam and Lifters and ARP Head bolts which are also on Back order!

So that aint getting put together till after I am back from my next deployment coming up shortly.
Then day before yesterday I noticed Coolant under her little car! Ordered a New Water pump for it picked up a Little while ago now I have to go out their and put that on.

Oh and My 69 Dodge Pick up front left tire was flat! Its got brand new BFG 35s on it!!!! that havn't even been driven on them yet!!!! a hole in the side below the tread HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN????? I put the tires on in the shop and just drove it into the yard seriously not even a 1/4 mile on them yet. That one blows my mind.

Over the weekend I helped Calvin set the cam timing on another new Cam in his VW tdi.
He was Bragging how he wasn't buying the special oil for it any more because it was so expensive and hard to get, So he changed over to another name brand and I told him not to do it repeatedly !!!!
Oh no he knows more than me!
He bragged about it at 10k miles no problem at 20k miles no problems @ 30K miles its making noise & Needs a New cam LOL!!!! Told you so!!!!!!!!
Wanna Brag about that oil some more I asked him?

H installed a New Hi pressure pump as well so I tried it on mine which confirmed My Vw needs New fuel injectors :( I got the new Head on mine with a New Cam water pump timing belt bla bla bla ran great for two weeks Now it needs the new fuel injectors. new are almost 800 each IF you can find them there are a couple shops world wide rebuilding them for 450 - 700 each. i found a shop that will rebuild my whole set for 1200 I am gonna do that I think.
There are two sets listed as overhauled out of China for 500 on ebay BUT I dunno if I really wanna trust that.
