Hey guys hope everyone is ok? I have been having a rather depressing and costly experience with the Chevy.. about a month ago took the 38 to the dyno to get the final tune. during one of the pulls the motor moved forward enough for the front pulley to hit the rack and pinion same time destroyed the clutch pack in the transmission. lessons learned :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: #1. don't put the rack and pinion in without having it serviceable after the car is together. #2. dont put the transmission in the car after its been sitting 12 years no matter how "new" it looks when you pulled the pan.
:whoops:

Hey Doug
Wow so it runs and drives? or it did for a while ? wow sorry to here about the Failure on the Dyno doesn't sound good? how in the heck did the engine move forward? enough to hit the Rack ? The Tranny that's just dumb luck lots of transmission sit a long time between uses and ya its not great for them but failure doesn't always happen. Dyno sessions are not great on components your pushing everything to its breaking point to get true numbers of its potential for the tune, its hard on stuff its rare that it would be used that hard on the street if ever now on the track that's a different story.

On a side note how was it to finally drive around? did ya get any final photo shots of it before all the Mayhem? Bet it was a Blast to finally drive.

Doug
I don't know who you got working on the car or if its where its being stored? but that is a Very Rare Jet boat hull there on the work stands.
I was looking for one back in the day when I used to race jet Boats that was before I moved to this dam Desert and got into Painting cars.

I am sure you got the car back on the road by now but was curious if you knew anything about the the story behind the Boat Hull?

Rob bet your shop will be a great place to work so hang in there :allgood:

Dennis I Can find out all the details you want on the boat... It is at Dave's shop where the car is again. STILL NOT STEERING!!!!!! :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: Not Dave's fault. We now think the pump is putting out to much pressure and blowing the rack seals.. The boat belongs to a customer of Dave's he had/has big plans for it but hit a ruff spot 8 years ago and its been sitting there ever sense. There is a Blown BIG block in the shop waiting also. If I remember correctly those are "normally" V drive but this one will be jet pump (if it ever gets done)....... Dave has several projects around of his own and customers that need to be done :splat:
