I ended up putting the hood on with the hinges loose and was able to tighten them from inside the fender well with it closed. That was the only way I could get it adjusted right, it didn't even make sense to me.

Never heard of anyone doing it like that before but it makes sense that it would work.

I always mark my bolt locations on the hinges before removing the hood and have had alignment issues after reinstalling it but never that bad.

I can see that type of hood being a problem refitting after a build. I have a 51 Chev pickup I'm going to do next and I see a lot of them at shows with less than an ideal fit.

That transmission is certainly giving you grief especially since it was supposed to be done and good to go. Hope you take lots of pics and document everything they DIDN'T do or didn't do right.

New camera showed up ----- Big learning curve! its smarter than I am.
Transmission stuff is supposed to be here late tomorrow by UPS tracking that means the next day! or later!
If and when I see the parts I will make a recording of what was wrong in my opinion, plus the build.

A friend is running his trophy truck in a local desert race this weekend I was thinking about trying to record some of that? I dunno if I will or not yet.

Up date on Trans
I got all the parts now plus a few extra I found that were bad inside and have started figuring out how to put it all back together, Got all the new bearings pressed on the shafts and have started putting the main shaft back together rebuilding all the sliders and installing all new friction synchros, one of them 1st gear was giving me a bit of a problem yesterday when I was pressing it on so I called it a day. I have to start with that today, I am gonna have to go to Home depot and try to find some pipe I can cut up & use to push the Hub on to the Main shaft.

The main shaft is built starting with 4th gear input shaft moving to third then second last is 1st, Then I can build 5th and 6th which is on its own shaft as is revers they are all separate from the Main shaft. after that I can play with the Shimming and final assembly.
I am being extremely careful and triple analyzing every thing and triple checking every thing being its my first one and I am teaching myself.

I did finally find a copy of the original Chevy printed manuals for the transmissions for that year, Its been a God send Its light years ahead of what Tremec has released as a manual to build these transmissions. The Tremec manual is very Generic for ALL T56's and the Factory Chevy manual is very specific with a lot more detail in all the drawings and in the details I cant say enough good about having the correct manual which is hard to find. I was lucky some one posted one up on Ebay after I won the auction several more popped up. so its not that hard to find just have to be patient.

I have the new Camera kinda figured out I have started playing with it cool set up!,
But their is more to making good videos than I had anticipated, My first attempts are terrible!
The Camera is working great its ME! plus aiming of the camera at the subject.
I am learning just don't expect anything from me for a while at least not till I am comfortable in the process which includes editing which I haven't even tried yet.

I have to get the Vett back together, the VW has a short in the wiring killing the battery when it sits overnight that I have to figure out. Maybe then I can get back to doing Body and Paint work once again along with a thousand other projects lol

Transmission sounds pretty involved, glad you're doing it, not me. Once you get it figured out you should be able to drum up some business building them, would be a good semi-retirement gig.

I don't think I would be very good at making youtube videos. If anybody drops by the shop I have no problem explaining any and every detail of what I'm doing but stick a camera in front of me and I doubt I could be natural. I guess that's part of the trick, be natural like you're explaining it to your buddy.

Having the camera in the right place has to be difficult unless you have an assistant holding it. Lots of videos I watch I can't quite see the detail I need, either the camera is in the wrong place or the guys head or hands block the view.

The other problem I have is often they assume I know part of the process so they skip it and it's usually the part I really need to know. You should assume the viewer knows absolutely nothing.

I have been working on the TR but mostly stripping paint and gunk so nothing exciting to report.
