mrbishi,

looks good from the pics, ......

While us aussies understand all about Holden Commodores and VN's with VP bars and VT indicators Im thinking that most here may be a bit lost with the lingo.

True! But I for one really appreciate the fine work, the pictures and information ya'll provide.
I have saved a number of your posts Chris for future reference during the restoration of my car.

Does it have much orange peal or texture to the top coat... Last time I painted acrylic I really struggled to get it on wet enough :( ... Every time I went to paint it was 34+degrees :x

This is PPG/Duco metalic acrylic red with PPG acrylic clear coat over the top.

But if you wet sand it ....

then cut it ...

close up ....

Do you think it might pay to wet sand it flat before cutting ?? You have put clear coat on over the top of the metalic ?

Be warned you'll need to keep that car clean and polished. The acrylic paint is sh!t that lasts very little time if left dirty on a car in the hot sun (tell me about it, I had to wet rub the car above after a years daily use when I didn't wash it and clean it as the paint had oxidised/takenon a textured look :( ).

Yeah that'll come out brilliantly if you wet sand and polish it then   It makes all the difference when you don't have access to a paint booth ...

This his how mine ended up after it was wet sanded the cut ...

The cars been used daily around Ballarat for the last 10years ... My father bought it out from the UK in 1996. I don't get down to Melbourne often, and if I take this car I'll usually be towing a trailer or caravan (or we take my wifes car that has air-conditioning). Though this time of year I forget how bloody hot the car is to travel in when it's summer.
