This car needs a paint job. It has lots of past work done to it, but not too bad for a almost 30 year car. I' ll post more pics as the project goes on.

Any suggestions or advice is welcome.

Looks to be in great shape!

There's really only one way to paint it. Strip all the current paint and
start fresh from metal.

Han, I'm going to do what you wisely mention.

I'm going to take the body down to metal, straighten everything and sand, sand, sand, prime, sand, prime and paint. I picked up a HVLP spray gun kit and plan to shoot some PPG on it. This is going to take some more time. Time well spent I figure.

Pic. of the right rear body work welding. I had to cut back to clean (no rust) steel to weld to.

I was thinking of painting it with PPG Omni Acryl enamel ($125)... instead of the PPG Premium ($435). Is the more expensive bc/cc worth it?

I'm not familiar with PPG products. So, i have no clue. What is your
budget? Well, you're certainly putting in lots of work, so going with
a premium line maybe the thing to do. I don't shoot single stage,
but from what i gather, a bc/cc system is "better" (lasts longer, easier
to repair).

Update:

Fixing leak under trunk seal; this corner has several panels coming together.

The bronze was a you know what (see the gold in the 'before' pic). Otherwise, steady as see goes.

Many small steps make a long journey.

Making progress! Are you keeping a log of the hours? would be
interesting...

Han: Good idea about keeping track of the hours.. But I haven't, figure I have at least 100 so far.

A little more progress:

What to do when the jack mount is collapsed? Surgery... I had to cut the outer panel to get to the inner panel damage. Also, I had to re-fabricate the mount bracket.

Wow! This is fun!

One of the sources of the rocker damage... this area had prior rust repair welding
