Ive been looking around for a forum like this for ages! I just started out in this trade and im in my 2nd year of it,luv it. Been reading a lot of the posts, giving me heaps of good info .
Mid way through last year i decided to have a crack at respraying my own car , doing a 3 layer pearl or tri-pearl as you people call it ( original red as the base, straight gold pearl, then clear). Each weekend i slowly done the engine bay , door jam`s and prep`d the whole car bymeself. Then i hired out an oven near my work and finished it.
The end result came out pretty good, just a bit blotchy in places. Anyway heres sum pics..

That paint is blingy for sure, I like it.
You found yourself a good paint booth too... downdraft. |
Welcome to my forum!
Nice job there. And of course, you cant stop at just one car! A man can do all things if he but wills them.

Looks good!
See if that were me those mirrors would have been stone solid till the last coat of clear, then they have been bouncing off the floor. |

Fast7...yea hiring the booth worked out good. It was just around the corner from me work, and the owner had a dust free booth because he just cleaned it out the day before lol. Only a couple bits of dirt, saved me so much work. I was only charged $100 to hire the booth, and i used it for a couple of hours..bargain (only coz me workmate knows the owner lol).
Han... lol yea cant stop at the 1 car. Now that i know i can do an alright respray. Im just hanging 2 do more . Mo-Cummins... I usually always forgot about something thats small on the car like a mould and forget about it and clear the rest of the job lol. Even tho its right in front of my eyes. Thanks for the postive replys keelz |
