I've been reading/searching old threads and still NO conclusions as to most efficient/productive way to remove two prior layers of base coat and primers, etc
before I reach WHITE Gelcoat ...................

So far my most effective method has been using a 3" Red Scotchbrite Cookie on a 1/4"
90' angle air motor, but still pretty slow (???)

I'm aware that KLEEN STRIP makes a Fiberglass Stripper ($36/gal) but have been
reluctant to buy/try ..................

Thanks for your experience ...............

Abrasive methods will always be, at least in my opinion, "safer" than using chemicals on fiberglass. This is kind of funny coming from me since 1/4 of my business is professional chemical stripping  but the reality is if you've got more like 3 to 6 coats of paint on a fiberglass surface then chemically removing "most" of it before getting near that gel coat is probably okay.....the last coat or two...not so okay. Strippers are very aggressive and can quickly "burn in" to that gel coat softening it and worse case, even removing it showing bare mat/cloth. Gel coat is such a nice surface to work back off of....hate to take a chance on wrecking it.....
