Hi everyone...first post
I have some minor damage to the rear fender molding on my 2013 Grand Sport Corvette.
Two small spots less than an inch each. Damage happened in parking lot, probably caused by a shopping cart. The part is no longer available. I've done light body work, have color sanded and can feather things out. The scratches to the paint that mishap caused are now invisible.
I've never repaired trim vinyl and need recommendations for the best filler and spray paint to use. Also any tips as well as how to approach this repair is appreciated. The finish is matt black with minor texture.

Are you sure? I Googled "2013 Grand Sport Corvette rear wheel arch mould" and got a pile of hits. Don't know if they're all relevant, of course. Can it be repaired? Yes. Would need to plastic weld in some filler, trim/sand to level and then heat and press in the appropriate texture. I'd take it to a plastic repair guy. Probably cost less than buying all the stuff you need to do it yourself, and then doing a less than perfect job because of inexperience. Chris

Hi Chris...A lot of new C6 parts are NLA. Two Chevy dealers in Miami showed the part but when I called it was not available. I need the right passenger side #1518636. A couple of places show the driver's side and that's what comes up in search. "I'd take it to a plastic repair guy." Can you elaborate, are we talking about an upholstery repair place? |
Did they sell this model in countries with right hand drive? For LHD the right rear would be the most likely to get damaged so first to run out of stock, but in RHD countries it would be the opposite. No, they never sold that here. In 2016 we still had Holdens. There are people who specialise in plastic and vinyl repair. Some are mobile, others work from shops. If I called my guy he'd drop in sometime next week and knock it over in 20 minutes. Then hand me a bill for $120. But he doesn't service the U.S.A. Chris
