Trying to get this project finished! I have a couple other post on this project and appreciate all the info, but thought id ask before I started this time instead of screwing it up 1st. I'll be moving on to repainting the plastic front rear bumper and side skirts on this 2012 Camaro. There isn't much damage if any but hoping to get some insight on the best way to go about it. these are factory painted parts from 2012. My thought is wet sand, 600, 800, then 1000 grit, try not to go thru the clear, then light base coat the parts and clear? Also on the front bumper their are some rock dings, they are not Chipped just small indentions in the clear, hoping to block them out without going to deep. I'm using Nason basecoat/clearcoat.

600 grit is all you need.
Be sure to cover any exposed plastic with some adhesion promoter. I cover all break throughs with epoxy primer before base. I usually like to epoxy the entire bumper only because it reduces the future rock chips a lot. JC.
(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding) |
