Been using a 5 stage apollo unit. I see the folks upgrading and building 6 stage units.
Would there be that great of increase in performance over the 5 stage?
thank you

So the jump between 5 stage and 6 stage is kind of marginal. I mean even if you allow 2 psi as a figure for each stage that is the difference from 10 psi to 12 psi at most. Supposedly the max cap pressure with any HVLP gun now should be 10.5 psi. A lot of what you are reading about guys "upgrading" is more like going from old 3 and 4 stage units directly to the 6 stage units. They do this more for the sheer economics of getting into these "clean sheet of paper design" 6 stage units for no more money than a 5 stage. Does that all make sense. I don't think you would see much of an improvement over your current 5 stage unit.

Thank you! I have had the 5 stage for about 2 years now, been reading the builds.... going from 3 stage to 6 stage. Will hang with my current system. Appreciate the response! |
