I just saw this and it's been out for a while. I have a buddy who uses it and really talks it up. BUT it's **** expensive at around $80+. Now it is a solid bit of Tungsten Carbide so it is an expensive metal alloy.

Anyone using it? Like it or not?
Looks like it is a good item?

in the very rare occasion I get a run... yes I use it. maybe twice in the last few years.

it is worth it.

there are cheaper ways, one wrap of tape on each end of a razor blade leaving about 1/2" or 3/4" of the middle of blade exposed, works well.

Yes that has been my way too and that also works. Not too much of a fan of the small file/rasp ones or the putty method.

Agree. Also good for denibbing because it only shaves off the nib, not the surrounding paint.

But.......if held incorrectly, or on the wrong panel curve, it can make scratches.

PD is a showoff and paints a lot. I am a hack and don't paint all that much but have had multiple opportunities to use that Mirka blade (again because I am a hack) and it does work well. Better than the rasp style. Scary at first but I did a black hood and then did my first real cut n buff on it. The final photo doesn't really show it but it did end up looking pretty good.

PainterDave I WISH someone had told me that 25 years ago! I have fought and struggled with those things and I was sure it was my technique because I usually made a bigger mess than if I had just left it alone.

Thanks for a straight up GOOD answer! I may not throw them away but I will not be using them again for sure.
