I am about to get a compressor to start painting. I have been reading up on compressors for a while. Can someone tell me if this would be a good portable compressor for painting cars? It is the grip rite 9hp 10 gallon 150psi portable gas compressor. It puts out 20cfm at 40psi, that is enough to operate the gun I want to get that requires 16 at 40 psi. But if there is something I'm missing or someone doesn't agree that is a good one to get for hvlp spraying, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

My concern would be the 10 gallon tank.
Your tank will only hold about 1.33 CFM of air at 100 psi and that will be used up very quickly. This will cause your compressor to run non-stop the whole time you are spraying even a small panel. This in turn creates more heat, which produces more moisture, etc.

These wheel barrel type compressors are meant for nail guns and such. The cost of one is about the same as a decent 80 gallon upright compressor though.
