Any of you ever had a valve reed break on you?

My compressor was running for longer than it shouldve been the other day and I went to look at it, it was at 20psi. :splat:

I took it apart and one valve reed was broken. I found the replacement online, but need to get the compressor back up and running.

Has anyone ever made one? And where did you buy the spring steel?

Thanks.

For the cost and labor involved in making one you would be better off paying to have the part shipped overnight.

Yeah, we've had them go on us before as well. We are lucky, we have a great local mobile compressor supply and repair shop on speed dial..... Went down at 8 in the morning...we were back up by 9:30....

Thansk Darrell, the closest shop near me is about 45 min away or maybe an hour.

I got new reeds for it now, accidently put a head plate on 180° backwards, it didn't compress air. Took it apart and flipped it, all is well now. :worthy:

If you are just replacing the reeds and not the block make sure to sand the black flat. I usually take all the reeds off then take a sanding block and 600 grit to make sure the surface is flat.
